Air Anti-Supply

Post by Awac835 »

Im not sure if this would work out. The idea is from the DB engine and how airstrikes works there.

Would it be possible to add a new attack for dive bombers or maybe even figthers that deal anti-supply like the sea AS. What i had in mind was something like a recon air mission. Just that it would instead hunt for supply and transfers in a hex with maybe a range of 1 hex. These attacks should ofc be interceptable for enemy fighters and flak.

Would this idea be cool/usefull or just stupid.

If i remember right it is already there. An automatic function which is just disabled in the ww2 masterfile.
Vic turned it off because of game balance aspects. It was just too hard against a player with air superiority.
It works like on the sea. You can turn it on or off for the plane units and they do it automaticly.
Exact range and amount i can´t tell you, but the enemy player can´t intercept. He can just reduce the effect by own flak/planes nearby.
I know that because i just play a scenario (Great War) where AS for planes is activated.

Pls correct me when i´m not right here, Vic.

Each SFType can be set to give: Antisupply versus sea hexes AND / OR to land hexes. In the default master all SFTypes only give antisupply versus sea hexes.

There is however another difference in that even if you turn antisupply on land hexes on it that does not mean transfers and strategic transfer over land will suffer dammages. This is done because i thought it was plain annoying. Just the supply system will be targeted.

I dont think this is activated for Toms Great War scenario.

For the version we play it is definitely activated since my biplanes destroyed some supply in the channel
close after game start.
For the latest version he deactivated AS i think.

Which SFT types can give AS to sea hexes by default ?
Cause you talked about "all SFTypes". So far i thought only planes and ships can do [&:]

Ah ok so its in. I didnt fully understand how it worked i think.
Would planes just radiate AS from there airfield and 5 hexes out? or did you have to launch em on recon mission and then they would AS the target and surrounding hexes?

I see it might be a bit hard on a enemy that losses air supperiority but then again so it was in real life.
But ill go with Vic if he think it got to much.
