Losses and strengh in units?

Post by Titanwarrior89 »

I am thinking about buying this game but.

1. How are losses done? Is it step losses or is the whole unit removed.
2. Does terrian and weather play apart in movement and defense?
3. Do the units have ID's? Such as the 1st Corp, 33regiment.
4. Last but not least. Is each turn a week, days, month or what.

Thanks guys for your answers ahead of time. This game keeps pulling at me but I am just not for sure.[:)]

1/ Losses are done as steps, specifically to the subunits of a division. So a division might have, say. 100 Rifle, 10 Medium tanks, 10 Mortar, 10 Artillery. After combat it might lose 15 rifle and 1 medium tank, etc. It's strength will be reduced accordingly

2/ Terrain certainly does. I don't think weather is in the game (that I've noticed)

3/ When you create a unit it will be named. I.E, 1st Division, then 2nd, 3rd, etc. HQ's will be named 1st HQ, 2nd, etc. You can change the name to anything you like

4/ Turn length is specified by the scenario in question. In the random battle mode it is just called Round 1, 2, etc.

It's a brilliant game, Titan [:)]

It's pretty cool having all the possibilities at your fingertips, and not only can you rename units like my spearhead division "The Hell Patrol" you can change the icon color[X(][8D].

I forgot you could do that (change icon colour) That would be a great way of showing which units are attached to which HQ's.

The units are color coded to match the HQ they are attached to.  Also, terrain has a big effect.  So does supply, staff support levels, unit readiness, and experience.  Also, different units perform differently against other units (e.g., bazooka is much better vs tanks than infantry)

Weather does not have an impact unless set up in the scenario.  Read the scenario description to see how wx is modelled.

Time is also set by the scenario.  The theater wide Europe 1939 scenario has 1 turn = 30 days.  The Russia 1941 / 42 uses 1 turn = 20 days.

Wow, even that's been thought of, and automated!
