Sneak peek at updated PS 2009 Interface

Post by puresimmer »

I recorded some footage of the new resolution-independent PureSim 2009 UI.

What's new

- Clean brighter look
- Consistent UI look and feel
- Dynamically adjusts as user sizes window, great for folks that want to get the most out of their desktop real estate
- Faster grid loading and sorting
- Improved, per-grid custom filtering (all grids!)

It's just alpha, but this screen cast will at least give you an idea of where I am heading with the UI.

Very nice looking...up until that placeholder injury pop up.  Wow, that one hurt the eyeballs. [:D]

Shaun:

I like the new look and in particular the custom filters. Is it possible to create various color combinations or templates and allow the customer to customize the look and feel they like. Sort of like the old time look that one of the guys did with photos and background colors and music.

I had another suggestion on the new features to be included. My thought was the create a poll showing the features you felt are within your grasp and let the community vote to place them in an order of priority. There have been some excellent suggestions in a few of the threads on the board so I am hoping you have a working list of what you would like to accomplish. I just thought it might help you to allow the community to vote on them based on what we feel is the most important.

For me the ability to recreate the "Dead-Ball era" is very important! I really want to replay that period in baseball history without having a guy hit 30 plus HR's and the computer bringing in a closer etc. Others have needs and wants that have been expressed. I play both historical and fictional so I am happy with the game, but I would be VERY excited if PureSim was able to create, what to me is, the most interesting phase of baseball history.

At any rate, I am with you again as I have been for years, but I am anxious to know more about your plans for the "guts" of PureSim.

Thanks
DNeely

I have to agree with most of what has been posted above.  I definitely like the new look.

Loving it! More than 3 filters-- weeeeeeee!!! Everything looks great!

I must agree with SpharV2 regarding the injury pop-up. I may be forced to sue you for damage to my retina.

The only other gripe I have is with Florida in last place. Seriously, you need to make some serious updates. We can't have that type of poor performance; otherwise, you're doing an outstanding job, young man!

I have to say that I actually prefer the current line up of buttons along the bottom of the screen. The new ones, to me, look too...bleak.

Seeing that footage a second time made me think... with the newer, sleek look, does that mean we're going to loose the wood frames in the live/managed game screen? It's fine if you do, just don't bow down to 'trends' and give it a default graphite look, please.

Please.

please.

LOL.. I was happy to see the wood frames gone as I want them removed from the PSPNcast screen.  They cover up the ballpark image for no good reason....

Shaun

Is it at all possible to have popup help text showing what abbreviations mean...please?

I love your game, I truly do. But I find it a real chore because (not being a baseball knowledgable person) I have to run off to various websites to collect the information. That isn't a problem in itself, because I have the various sites now, but I can't search on "some" abbreviations.

For example, I can search for RBI and find out what it means and I get the info...makes sense after I read it (and I have to do this almost all the time to refresh my memory (I have a terrible memory))...but look at the screen attached....I don't know what the abbreviations G, GS, CG, SV and K mean...and I can't search for what they mean. If you can provide the real stat name with rollover, the game would be transformed for me. And that's only one of the screens...I have to go through this with just about every screen that has abbreviations that I do not understand.

Thx and good luck with the new game...I will buy

Judge : G is games, GS is games started. A relief pitcher might have a 75 for games, bnut a 0 for starts, while a starter typically will have pretty close to an even number in both categories. SV is saves. K is strikeouts (I've often wondered how K ended up being the letter chosen for that stat?)

Edit : Missed one! CG is complete games...in other words, how many times a single pitcher has pitched the entire game.

Thx Arctic....I know I can post in here and everyone is extremely helpful.

It was more of a request....interface issues being something I like to bring up. I'm a big fan of tooltips...they help ease users into games they are unfamiliar with.

Still...I should post here more...there's always someone who knows what I need to know and willing to post.

For some reason I was unable to enter puresim.com tonight. I entered through the Matrix site, but am unable to view your screen cast. Maybe tomorrow.
