Association Rules Prohibit......

....re-signing a player you released during the current season.

Why?

This is not an uncommon thing in real MLB. In PS, this is easily worked around via the "Edit Player" screen. Is this restriction something that can go away with the next version, or is there a reason I'm not aware of. Maybe it corrupts Almanac files, or some such thing?

What this MIGHT mean (with finances ON), is that releasing a player, only to sign him back at a lower salary, is just gamey, so it's prohibited. Could that be the reason?

I didn't even think about the financials. If I recall correctly, a team is responsible for 75% of a released player's salary. When PS computes this against the team's payroll, bringing that same guy back must produce errors in the program, as PS tries to compute just how much this guy counts against the total now.

I'm no programmer (my wife is, ironically), but I can almost see how this is better left as is, since it's an easy work-around.
