Favorite Defensive Plays While Managing?

Post by KG Erwin »

To me, one of the most dramatic moments is this: bases loaded, one out. The opposing batter hits a high fly to the outfield. Your outfielder, who happens to have a rifle arm, makes the catch and throws the ball to home. The baserunner on 3rd makes the dash to home, and the catcher is waiting there with the ball -- there's a collision -- he's OUT! Inning over, two left on base.

It's unfortunate that these types of plays aren't mentioned in the PSPN reports.

Three left on base? Maybe one of them is Wrathchild's disappearing runner.

I love those throws to home, particularly in clutch situations, e.g. ninth inning with your team ahead by one.

How about: Bases loaded, nobody out. Your pitcher got into this mess, and you expect him to get out of it. He proceeds to strike out the next three batters. Inning over, three left on.

Sorry. [:o] Oh, well, it's still three potential runs prevented.

Well, if it is I'm not paying him for that game! Oh wait, I don't use financials.

Hmmmm... what an interesting concept. Imagine that; merit-based pay. This sounds like a great topic for a new thread.
