The Animated Ballflight

Post by KG Erwin »

Ok, I know BeachBoy hates it, but when I'm managing a game, watching the ball can result in some nailbiting moments, and at other times I'm tempted to jump out of my chair and high-five an imaginary player or coach in the dugout.

C'mon, admit it. How many times, in a close game, you've seen "it's a high fly ball to deep right" and your OF snags it at the wall, preventing the go-ahead run from scoring? "A great defensive play by..."

Conversely, how many times have you clenched your fists when YOUR guy hits that high fly and you watch as it goes "back back back" and then sails into the stands, giving YOU the go-ahead run?

There's nothing wrong with letting the kid in you take over in that moment of anticipation, not knowing whether the next moment will bring joy or heartbreak.

LOL, Don. Listen, my friend, I can say little about being flaky or eccentric, if you could hear the "Natural/Field of Dreams" music I put into my version of the game. I also removed that annoying "We Will Rock You" crowd noise (Queen and baseball just don't mix), and turned off the fireworks. I'm not a conservative, but I am definitely a nostalgist.

In any case, I think most of the guys like the ballflight animation.

I sometimes find myself yelling "GO! GO! GO! GET OUTTA HERE!!!" on those long fly balls...followed sometimes by, "Damn! How did he catch that???"

Did you see I'm flying the Cardinals flag now? I just got hired as Cardinal Manager last Feb 1945. Finnished in the middle of the pack in 1945. The Pirates took the League Flag.
