HTTR Nijmagen Scenario Waal crossing

Post by jckerr4 »

How do you execute the Wall river crossing for the 504th in Nijmagen scenario?
This is a major part of the historical battle and I cannot figure out how to do it.
I like the realism of this game and have been reading alot about Market garden, its not the same battle w/o the river crossing

Good point jckerr4 and unfortunately the crossing of the Waal can't be effectively simulated in the Nijmegen scenarios.

We encountered a similar situation with the Germans crossing of the Sauer River by boat on the morning of December 16th in Battles from the Bulge. We finally decided that it was best to show this by reinforcements entering on the far shore in a disorganized state and it seems to work pretty good.

The Waal crossing is different in that it occurs 4 days into the battle by units that entered combat on the first day.

Hi all,

It's actually worth adding to the enhancements list IMHO. The possibility of amphibious river crossing assaults would add a whole new dimension to the engine. What do you think Arjuna?? [:)]

Rob.
So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)
Hmmmm... big place ain't it??

Yes I agree. It is defintely on the wish list. I am wrestling at the moment with getting engineers to build bridges on the fly as needed. Once I have perfected this code, I'll clone it for assault river crossings and other engineer type tasks. We're getting there.[:)]
