Humble suggestions to improve a wonderful game

Post by baseballfan5 »

One year ago I asked several questions of people who played this game. The responses were all positive and I purchased this game. It IS wonderful--thank you for your endorsement and kudos to those who have developed this game. That said, having played for a year I have several suggestions (submitted humbly) to improve the game. (I should state that I am most interested in managing the game--I never sim an entire season, or a week for that matter.)

1. Allow more control of baserunning. Too often runners advance station to station. On a 3-2 count with 2 outs a batter should almost always advance two bases on a base hit. Moreover, fast runners should often advance two bases. I guess what I am struggling with is reading the text. To me a ball that "gets through the hole" suggests a ground ball that is going slow enough for a fast runner to go two bases. Perhaps I should ignore the text. I also struggle with when to send runners tagging up. A ball hit to the warning track should score all but the slowest runners--I seem to get thrown out too much. Maybe if I was able to access the tables (i.e. math formula) that determined whether one was out or safe this would help. I am thinking of a lot of the old card games (or dice games) that allowed you to better gage whether or not I should send a runner and what risk I was taking.

2. You need to add a suicide squeeze and double steal

3. There still seem to be far too few HBPs, WPs, Passed Balls, and 2 base errors.

4. I would like to see more options for making the schedule. Interleague play should always be an option; how many times you play each team, and overall number of games should be an option too.

5. I would love to see "composite players" in addition to the yearly players. As someone who likes to assemble players from different eras into one league, it is difficult to do so. For example, I would love to have a composite Sandy Koufax or Bob Gibson. Koufax in 1957 is not the pitcher he would become and Gibson in 1968 is just too good. I would love to see the players rated in the various categories and offered as a whole player. I am not articulating this very well but am interested in if there is any chance this might happen.

Thanks again for a great game--many fun hours have been spent playing.
