The Frustrations of Managing a Second-Rate Team

Post by KG Erwin »

Here's the flipside to "why do I always win?" I deliberately chose a piss-poor team, and I suppose I asked for it. It really is frustrating, as I realize that yes, the team has a long-term plan to win. Having the patience to get there is the problem. For a GBG manager like me, losing day after day gets disheartening. Yeah, it's just a game, but how do the real-life managers cope with this? Comfortable salaries aside, this job is not as simple as it seems, once you put yourself into their shoes.

KG,
That's why I pick late 40's Cardinals, 40's & 50's Brown's and White Sox. Teams I have to try rebuilding in order to win. Right now my 1950 White Sox stink. We have flashes of a good team but it does not last. In May 1949 we even made it into 1st place for a few days. Then in August to 3rd place before dropping to 7th by the end of the season. You have to revell in the fleeting good moments before they disappear. A few trades and some rookies and maybe we can move up.
