Turn 13

Contact is made.
I've pushed up onto the outer defences of the last 2 VP's.
Taken out quite a bit of the enemy's mortar units.

Hope my Arty can weaken the Soviet resistance so that the 2 VP's fall as fast as possible.

Turn 14-16

The defences were a nightmare.
Enemy Arty and smallarms fire reduced my Pzr Inf. Some forced to retreat, with only 1sp left.
Broke through the lines of defence bur paid a very high price.

So far only on minor victory. Losses were too high!!

Turn 18

Couldn't reach exit VP.

Broke through enemay lines, soviets were routing, disrupted units were all over. But I was still taking casualties.

No major victory.

"Finding a soft sport"
Orders.
I have been ordered to take the town of Gremuchiy. And then pass on further to keep Iwan running.
Plan.
1 Coy Stug with recon advance on right flank and engage enemy, stop them crossing the valley and view enemy movement on left flank.
2&3 Coy Stug move forward on the left supported by Inf Coy, take Gremuchiy and push on ahead.

Reinforements will be moved in to fill where the need arises.

Lots of improved positions up ahead. Arty and Luftwaffe will be of great assistance.

It looks to me that you took the wrong approach and thus fail to score the major. When i analyzed the terrain i concluded that avenue in the center is just to strong and decided to go left. My units on the right were to probe aggressively while all other forces mob that hill. This method proved correct in short order and the battle turned into a route. My forces were organized again after the breakthrough while advance elements began clearing the the second echelon of Russians wich as i remember was now in a poor position because i could see down into their deployments. It was really just a matter logistics to get the kampfgruppe off the exit hex.[8D] Thats a great little scenario
everyday congress meets we lose a little more of our liberty. and a republic is not the majority gets to bash the resistance. thank God for the electoral collage.
