New here. Few questions.

Post by fighter36 »

Hello,

Stumbled upon this game by accident. Never was into the old school hex-type wargames with no graphics, but I must admit this game is alot of fun and taken me completely by suprise. I am on my first real campaign with the CP. As a wargame noob I have the advantage set to the CP. I just have a few questions.

1. How do I get rail points?

2. I see new troops appearing on the front. Do all new troops automaticlly move to the front? I noticed my HQ units are in Berlin when they are created. If so how would I tell them to go to the Eastern front?

3. I just started playing last night so I havent got very far, but when do I get to control my navy again? Is that after all the first round impulses are done?

Thanks for any help. Browsed the manual but its rather sparse in info.

THanks!! [:)]

1) rail points auto replenish during strategic phase.

2) use strategic movement

3) naval orders can only be given during the strategic phase.

thanks for the replies.

a few follow up questions. should i have started with rail points? on my current game i started with 0 rail points. i have been reading some AAR and people speak off using rail points at the start of the game.

and regarding my newly constructed units, they are appearing 1-2 hexes away from the front lines.

thanks again [:'(]

As I recall, there are no rail points in the initial phase. That's what the one time mobilization phase is for--essentially unlimited "rail" movement.

getting this game figured out. so far so good. great game.

one more question. when does one consider starting to lay down some trenches. I am in mid-1915, and while making some progress in belgium and nothern france, i am at a standstill in central europe along the border. I am slowly taking their forts with the help of some siege arty, but they are counter-attacking alot. i layed a few trenches down in hexes just past the forts to hold my ground. I cant see myself being able to push much further.

thanks! [:)]

I would have to look it up but you do get more production than normal and combat modifiers. So its a pretty decent advantage.

Sounds like you're already at a good time to start laying down trenches.
