Rozelle Stadium

Post by garysorrell »

Ok, it's done. I will post the link to the zip here, because I havent added it to my site yet.

Its US fields only, at the moment. I will tackle a CFL version soon.

Anyway, here it is. let me know if there are any problems.

Jets at Bills, in the snow...of course.

Anyway, I named it after the great one, Pete Rozelle.
The textures are kinda big, so I hope it runs ok on everyones machines.
On the big pressbox/luxury box building in the endxone, there are 3 textures for the lower part. The one has the logos and the big doors on it, the other two are sides. They are the biggest textures I think, the others are normal sized.

If you want to get rid of the logos and stuff, just copy and paste one of the sides over the stuff you want to cover. The noisy greay should be the same on all 3.

Anyway, enjoy.

Very nice! I may adapt it for some college teams - IMO it doesn't quite fit an NFL team anymore...

Awesome stadium, Gary. Not sure which one of the Metro teams will get this puppy, but i love the the closeness of the stands to the field. Very nice, yet simple design.

Thanks.

Thats why I make them, so the user can make them fit his football universe.

Thanks DT. It started as just an exercise to work on corner fans. When I got them about as good as I was going to, I went ahead and turned it into a full stadium.

I like Davids Stadium1 and Eastern Stadium, but since they are sized for the CFL field, they always have too much open space when a US field is in it, so I figured I would start making them to fit the field. For me, anyway, it helps with immersion.

Thats a nice stadium.  What is the seating capacity of it?  40,000?  Maybe more?

Also, any chance you might make a low poly verion of it (I can only play Max Football version 1).  I have tried to make some Stadiums myself, but Milkshape doesn't allow you to import .x files for editing.

Not sure on capacity, but I will check it out.

Im not sure I can make it any more low poly. I build them as low end as possible. If anything, it may be the images. But the bleacher walls are low compression jpgs. All the bmp files should be 256 color, so they are about as small in size as I can get them.

I forgot to enclose a little image file that shows up in the stadium selection screen. I added it and reuploaded a new zip.
But here it is if you just want to add it to your folder and not re-download the stadium.

If you actually count the fans, it is only 14,320

Well, its basically about 15 fans per row, then number of rows, then sections.

Im liking the 'other dimension' stuff. But actually, I think its a dome, split in half where I joined the background image.

I think that's where there was a clearing in the trees where you could see the base of the columns in the BG

Nice work, Gary - it looks great! [8D]

Constructive criticism: I realize it is Rozelle stadium, but the NFL logo makes it league specific, pretty much.

Other than that, I love it! [:)]

Thanks for the info. I'll download the stadium and give it a try in Max Football V1. I was concerned about all the Fan Polygons in the stands. I don't know much about MF Stadium Construction, but I assume the more Polygons in the game (and more .bmp to load) the harder it can be on a systems resources. Some of the stock stadiums that are very low poly seem to make my games run smoother then the ones with the "standup" fans and heavy graphics. I was kinda hoping this stadium could be converted to use just textured fans (not polygon) but I guess it may not be factor. You said that most of the textures are in .jpeg format, might not be a problem.

As for capacity, sure seems hard to beleive it only holds 15,000 people. Surely it has a capacity of at least 20,000 (ie, D1AA or Divison II size schools)?
