K Stridor, I'll have a look next slot I get.

At the moment tho a 7lb 6oz baby boy born this morning is taking up a bit of my time!!!

One hour after I wrote the post above it all kicked off with the usual rush to the hospital so no sleep chance till literally this minute! [>:]

Here's hoping he'll love wargaming as much as his dad.

Biffa, great news. Congratulations.

I'm pretty buried with work at the moment. I'll try to get some of the models translated next weekend if I get a breather.

I am in the process of writing a c# program which will scan through all the *.X files in the PCK directories, fix their lighting up, fix all their normals, optimize their meshes, their animations and precompute bounding boxes.

Big big big job, I am not even sure if I can do it?, but I hope it will standardize all the models and fix all the lighting problems and possibly allow the MM to auto draw "structure" AI map obstructions.

I've told him about Uncle Stridor [:'(]

I should be able to get freed up a bit once they're allowed home, I'm stuck with our two year old atm during the day then hospital in the evenings, she want's mummy and 'mouse' to come home too, well that's the name she has suggested. [8|]

Please don't go to any trouble to fix them, it shouldn't be long now.

Still can't believe I've got a son omg. Anyone who is a parent will know the rollacosta that is child birth, an exhausting combination of sheer joy and stark terror!

I wouldn't worry about fixing your models. My little fixer upper utility *should* be the bee's knees. Hopefully it will be the uber PCK model fixer solution

I can't *promise* anything but it seems to:

1. Cut back HD storage requirements significantly as it can compress the X models
2. Fix all lighting problems for all models (when in batch mode)
3. Fix all normal problems
4. Optimize models for faster loading and faster graphics performance
5. Auto generate user defineable LOD models for all game files (something which had to be done by hand, this should increase graphic speed up as well as most models do not have LODS)
6. Allow intelligent specular defines so that the tanks should look better than ever (indeed all material lighting is now configurable)
7. Allow texture define changes
8. Allow converting any x file from compressed/binary to text and back
9. ? Will it find and help fix the long sought after dead TC bug ? Perhaps ?

Now as I said no promises for anything, but it does look promising ...

Very nice utility!! You need to get a patent before you release it!!

I'm starting to sing a different tune with the TC bug ... I still believe it's dealing with the "tank attributes" however, I now feel it's broken in the SIMULATED TURN part of the game where it doesn't save the death animation from the simulated turn over to the regular turn.

I've also seen another bug related to the SIMLUATED turn ... transparent buildings ... You will see buildings not in LOS go from opaque to transparent when the enemy infantry mounts them ... this transparent building sometime carries over to the regular turn ... ie you see a transparent building with no infatry in it!

Keep up the good work!! You know your programs are MUCH APPRECIATED within the Pck community ... albeit a small group of people.

Thanks guys, I've taken the pictures down.

I do feel amazingly lucky, just one visit to the maternity intensive care unit is a very humbling experience.

I never thought I'd ever get into having kids but if I knew then what I know now I would have started earlier and had hundreds! My advice is just don't leave it too long, I have a lot of friends who have sadly left it too late.

I'll start turning him into a wargamer as soon as he gets home [;)]

Well, you might want to wait until he's out of his diapers - (or do you say nappies?) - Could get .. uh.. messy.

I remember when our daughter was 2-3 yrs old. At that time - I was playing some hard copy wargames - SL, 3R, Russian Campaign, Ney Vs Wellington, -- well you can imagine - you can imagine what fun she had! All those little pieces!

Enjoy your time with them - it's amazing how quicky time passes, and they go from what you see in your pics to full grown women (or men) with children of their own.

But of course - that has its rewards as well -

Good luck and congratualtions to you and the wife!
