RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
hopefully, this is what I was waiting for, a opening, my first Cav does not have the range to get there, so just moves a little closer, the 2nd one slips in and will try his luck, I just need to break or disorder it

RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
got lucky, first charge disordered and the captured the gun, but disordered my troops, I may not be able to get them out of there, and I don't really expect to keep the Guns, but a target besides me is a good target !
2nd Cav does not have the range for the last gun or the Inf, so will move a little closer while still covering my flank

and just in case, Charges are not a done deal, you can get hurt worse then the target, or the target may take little damage

2nd Charge was a bust, little damage and a disordered Cav, tried to move to get another charge and the Russian Cav reacted to it and blocked it off, since my Cav would then block my field of fire, I pull them back out of the way and wait for a better chance (but it did draw that enemy Cav into firing range (but I wanted those Inf in column before they could deploy)

this is the one I need, the HEAVY guns are too close, and will do major damage if they can fire, also, as they are not in good terrain, I may of caught them still in column
going to hurt having most of my Cav out of action this early though

DANG
nabitt
I hit the wrong botton, and didn't get the charge off !!!!
turn ended and we resupplied, then the Russains went to town on the captured Arty, not many men left, but it wasn't mine to start with
, it will either be shot to death, or disband after the battle, so it is dead
but it held for a bit and did some damage and saved some of my troops
one of the Russian guns fired on my Jagers, that are trained as Snipers, not a good move

RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
now my Cav gets there opening and rushes forward to charge the unsupported gun (as I said earlier, always support your Guns, your enemy will hit them)
I have been able to pull my disordered Cav back some, lucky the ZOC's were not in place to trap them in place yet (his Cav was out of place)
also squared his Flank Inf, now if I can get my Hart down there

I hurt him with my first charge (600-700 men down) but I crush the Heavy with my other charge
got to get my Cav out of the firing line before he is able to deploy and lay down fire on my poor boys

RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
now that was a busy one, lots and lots of things going on all at once, the Russians move there guns up and open fire, the Russian Jagers get a good volly in on my Hows, but my Hows get a good shot in on his Heavy Cav
over the hill top some Russian Cav come in to hit my supply wagons, then one of my back up Arty is able to deploy and fire a nasty volly into them
trying to move my southern Guns close enough to hit his Inf, I am not going to win the battle hitting his guns all day, I have to break his troops (Cav and Guns take Arty fire a little better then troops do)
I am hurting him, but I am getting hurt back, besides, he has some 100,000 more men then I do

in most battles, this is what really hurts you
lots and lots going on, getting hit HARD, but am giving as good as I am taking when he is doing the hitting, was able to pull some of my Cav out of the fire, got lucky as I wasn't able to support some of my guns by doing so, but I think I have hurt most of his free Cav
I just got to do some damage to his troops

only 3 O'clock in the afternoon ?, this battle seems like it has taken days !
the numbers are starting to tell (in the death toll) I am slowly breaking his troops, but the guys doing it, are taking it on the chin
the Grand Armee II will be in rest and refit for a while after this battle

night fell, and I got greedy, I seen the Russians had started to panic, so broke my ranks for the chase before they broke, only trouble is they rallied during the night, I could get some people hurt shortly, but I should finish the battle soon

RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
yeap, as I expected, the Russians rallied during the night and didn't want to give up
Fresh Russian guns in the morning did a number, but so did I, in the end, the panic was too much and the Russians ran for the hills
one of the blooder battles I have been in
captured 3 Russian Guns but lost one, also lost my fancy Jagers (dang, lots of Exp went into those guys !!!)
but Prussia should be safe for a bit

I dont know if any have asked - but why do we yet see coloured dots in stead of small men in detailed battle? Is that not a step back?
RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
What do you mean you lost your Jagers - were they captured or decimated?
In FOF I rarely loose a brigade to the enemy in detailed battles - should I be more afraid in COG:EE? (that would be a good thing)
Has it got something to do with the pursuit phase? Can the winner of the battle also loose whole units during the pursuit?
This AAR is still a great read - but tell Pixelpusher to hurry up with those ship-sprites so you can do a full ship-battle AAR...! [;)]

I ask, because FOF had small men in detailed battle, and it looked great, I think!

my Jagers were pretty much shot to death, and then disbanded when they were too small
you could, if the numbers drawn from them, made the unit too small

RE: CoG EE, the Path Of Nappy, early AAR
To jnpoint:
I too would have loved to see Pixelpusher's work on the detailed battles in FOF, sprites, terrain, animations, carried over to COG:EE.
But it seems this was out of the scope for this expansion. I think Gil said customers/reviewers didn't seem to value the upgraded detailed battle graphics of FOF that highly... A shame - for I sure do!
Maybe they can be added with the next COG expansion: COG:PE (Crown of Glory - Perfect Edition) [:D].
