Yeah, I think this is another case of SAIEW, though we are discussing some options.

Now as the Kate has almost Twise the Range as the Dountless, did the Jap aircrafts Strike First in that CV battle in previus pages ?
Or how did it go?

Sorry, the AE coders motto is "No hardcoding!"

Now get rid of air minelaying date code. Make it work by air weapon editable service date [:D]

Very nice to see the torpedo loadouts on those screenshots.

I think it was mentioned already, but the first thing I'll mod before I start any game is to set the capacity of the Jap CVE's to zero torpedoes (unless they fix that before release). Should be a fast and easy fix in the new editor.

If that is truth and it will be possible to edit the torpedo numbers then clap clap! to the team. "Less hardcode the better" should be a Motto.

Oh, brilliant. It seems my guess about this being doable was right. [:D]

Of course, lets not forget that its not only the IJN CVL/CVEs that need this 'tweak'...though I think itll hurt them far more.

Smart people than I will probably post some list of exactly what ships need to be modded. And given that it is SOOO easy to do in the editor, I wouldn't be surprised if the AE team just fixes it before release. But who knows...

As I've been reading this, I notice that A2A engagements are producing far less kills than in stock.  I take it you have done something to eliminate the 'turkey shoot' syndrome that turns every stock air battle into a bloodbath then?

Even better - really our #1 team priority for AE was to fix the "Uber Air Battle" syndrome. And after a redesign and then a fair amount of testing and tweaking - I think we actually have fixed it. So no more 100xB-17 strikes with 100xTony shooting down 50xB-17. We've tested up to the 300x4EB versus 300xFighter and still no Uber effects ... same for 300xFighter versus 300xFighter.

In fact IJN CVE could carry and launch planes with torpedo IRL, see for example Hosho equiped with B4Y1 until June 42. Jap player should have this possibility.

The ability to carry a torpedo bomber has nothing to do with the ability to arm them with torpedoes.

It carried Jean, because only that particular biplane bomber was able to launch from her short flight deck carrying torpedo...

Actually I think it carried the B4Y1 because it was incapable of launching the D3A, and the B4Y1 was more capable as a bomber than the D1A.

Certainly Ryujo carried both T13 and T97 attack aircraft (torpedo bombers) durinf her service ... but I have seen no direct evidence or any torpedos on board. During the opeartions against China, most if not all of the aircraft carried on board the Ryujo were fighters.
