Siege Artillery

Commander – Napoleon at War is the second in a series of high level turn based strategy games. It spans the Napoleonic Wars from 1805 to 1815, allowing players to control France or the Coalitions against it through the entire period or in shorter scenarios. Easy to learn, with fun and addictive gameplay, this is a Napoleonic wargame in the style of the old "Panzer General".

Siege Artillery

Post by GaryChildress »

Last question for this evening: Is siege artillery very effective against regular units in regular combat or is siege artillery mostly just good for bombarding cities? In other words is it worth the investment or is it better just to get horse artillery or foot artillery instead?

Thanks.

I'm finding seige artillery isn't that good against troops and not that much better against cities, just having a lot of foot or cav artillary seems to work just as good and when you are not attacking cities they do a better job on the enemy units.

Siege arty is very useful in "Sealion" were you don't have the need to manoeuvre your units. Against foot units they're pretty useless but very effective at destroying cities or fortress defending walls. It's a game of frustration (same with foot arty) in Russia though, for it'll take forever to move them to Moscow. Go for horse arty here.
