Close Call On a System Crash

Post by KG Erwin »

I'd just started the next game on the schedule, and I had some system issues. No one had batted, so I shut down my PC and rebooted. Luckily, PS started up and restored everything correctly. I 'd NEVER had this issue before, so it was undoubtedly a system glitch.

When a game is in progress, PS doesn't wanna close. You have to shut off your PC completely and reboot. If innings have been played, then those results are lost.

I'm thankful in that PS WILL restore itself to the last-completed games, so nothing gets thrown out of whack.

Before restarting PS, I will run C-Cleaner and defrag the HD. Can't be too careful with unwanted digital demons, huh? [;)]

I had this happen in an association once. Right in the middle of a game I had a system just shut off. The association was still playable, but the stats were off. I think this was because I believe Puresim populates a table during a game with the data for that game, and then updates the main data after the game. So since this table never got cleared due to the system shutdown, my player stats were off. For example, when a batter came up to the plate his average no longer matched either his vs. LHP or vs. RHP average because the tables were out of sync.
