WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

In my current game, 1939 full campaign, (modded with increased cost for zones of control and reduced air/ground combat losses), I started Barbarossa on June 24, 41. I wanted to wait till the historical start time to see if the Russian AI could do better with more time to prepare.

It's no cake-walk. In a couple of instances I have gotten too reckless with German armored spearheads, and had them bitten off. The AI has succeeded twice in cutting off supply to my most advanced units.

The Russian AI still tends to concentrate too much around the cities, but I'm still not sure if that's because it has too few units for a more extended front. I have been able to encircle large groups of Russian forces, but I'm finding strong concentrations behind those. Once I had a Russian armored unit almost completely surrounded. It retained a supply line into its turn and actually retreated back into its lines rather than just sitting there to get wiped out.

My point in all the above is that on the Russian front at least, it's a true contest of army against army, not just a human vs. AI blitz. Quite fun.

I have not hesitated to point out faults with the game in the past, so thought I would post this to indicate that I'm having lots of fun with the game. If my past comments have dissuaded anyone from buying the game, I hope this corrects that and they will give it a try.

iin the last times i had not so much time to playe as in the past but the feelimg about new aI is good...

Now it's reactive abd quickly.

AI will not be a human player. ome mistakes remains but Surely the road to moscow is much more dirty.

it's only a feel but nie it's much better

It is really great when gamers get under the hood and fix things. Thanks for doing the work.
Possibly you will upload the file with your modified factors. And maybe even a step by step as to how it was done. I can not make heads or tails of XL files.

The mod I'm using is part of one that Uxbridge did for PBEM play. I encourage him to post the mod. I wouldn't feel right doing it myself. I can describe the part I'm using however: it's some entries in the consts.csv file. There is such a file for each scenario. Look for the entries in the file on combat losses per die roll, and that on zone of control movement costs.

As far as edittling the files, however, you can use any text editor.

I Just checked you can indeed open the files with Note Pad and they look a lot more coherent to me that way!!!!
