RE: Happy New Year -- WitPTracker now at 1.5
OK:
I deleted the copy of witp002.pws that I had placed in the tracker folder and replaced it with a copy of the next turn- witp003.pws. Then I went to tracker-Turn-Read Turn.
Result: Popup "Could not read the save file"
If I hit multi turn and go to either the tracker directory or to the witp save folder no saved games are displayed in either folder
Properties
Dir=[F:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific]
GameType=[0]
Side=[1]
Password=[abc123]
SaveFile=[witp002.pws]
SaveMode=[0]
I executed tracker from the command window and didn't get any error messages.

RE: Happy New Year -- WitPTracker now at 1.5
You must use the same name that you have entered in the properties file. (unless you want to change it there too for each turn but it's not supposed to work that way. You save your turn always on the same slot and you copy the witp002.pws file in the tracker folder or your "history" folder)ORIGINAL: Thesix
- You can copy the witp002.pws of the new turn into your tracker folder, replacing the former one, and then click on "Read Turn"
- Or, you can copy, turn after turn, the witp002.pws in a specific folder (it may be the tracker folder) renaming them by adding the turn number as extension for example, like witp002.pws.002, witp002.pws.003, etc... (witp002 must be in the name)
Then, you click on the "Multi-turn" option and select the folder containing the copies of your turns. The system will propose you the list of the unread turns.
I hope I'm clear [;)]
[Edit] At least Damian is clear [:D]. I didn't think also that you can rename witp003 to witp002. Good idea!
RE: Happy New Year -- WitPTracker now at 1.5
OldCoot - There are a number of ways to load a new turn ...
1. the file must be the same name as the first file so change the name to witp002.pws and place it in the tracker folder.
or
2.change the file name of the second turn to witp002.pws.001 and then the next to witp002.pws.002 (if you want to keep all the files) etc
If you use option 1 - then use the read turn option
if 2 then the multiread ...
Hope this helps
Damian

PS. Thanks Herve for helping ...

OK guys. I got it. Thanks much for your time and trouble
RE: Happy New Year -- WitPTracker now at 1.5
LCU production again ...
Alright, I've finally figured out any discrepancies in Arm/Veh production...
FYI. At present the reinforcement points for Arm/Veh production are correct(as far as my testing can tell) but do not account for drawing devices from the pool, and that is why the totals do not always correspond when a unit arrives to what had been shown the previous turn.
Secondly I have not yet implemented TOE, but I guess when it arrives and changes to its TOE then it is accounted for.
Finally,(if you didn't read my earlier post) your copy as present doesn't give accurate VEH/ARM points needed to existing units with damaged(not disrupted) devices. This has been fixed
I guess my question to users is:
1. Do you want there to be a guesstimate of what the unit will cost IF it draws all or partially from the device pools.
2. Same as above but for destroyed ARM/VEH for existing units.
3. On the bottom gui - (unit specific information) another column of destroyed & pool.
4. The same again for TOE ?
Or should I just leave it as is ... if people are willing to concede that getting this 100% accurate is problematic given that multiple units can arrive on the same day compounding the problem that drawing from existing pools is not always a certainty...
I think I already know the answer - just need some push on this.

When you say "same again for TOE", are you speaking about an additional column in the LCU information screen ? If so, that'd be useful - not a priority, but useful.ORIGINAL: n01487477

As for the rest, I find 1 very useful, 2-3 interesting, but on the whole not priority either, since as you put it this wouldn't always give accurate information. Albeit I won't complain if you implement all of this anyway - information that is sometimes incorrect is still useful the rest of the time.[;)]

I'd be interested in all four pieces of info you mention, even if they are just guesstimates. None of it strikes me as essential, but it would all be nice to have.
My only worry is: does adding features slow the program down significantly? It seems to need lots of memory as it is...

Memory - well yes it uses a load of HDD space, but this new feature will not add to that as it is just a new calculation - not a DB field.
I've got 40 turns loaded for 80 MB HDD space - 65 for the data file and 15 for the backup - so it actually does use more than the savefile / turn.
I know at one stage Floyd and I were talking about options to not save pilot data etc to save space.
If you are talking about RAM - then Floyd and I are trying to reduce the number of duplications of code / arrays to see if this can help. I have to admit though I've never had a problem with memory on my machine or on my very old desktop - still I run all my machines fairly lean.

Yeah, actually I meant RAM; I occasionally get "out of memory" errors and Tracker hangs. But then I'm typically running 5 or 6 things at once -- WITP, Tracker, Photoshop, Windows Explorer, Firefox. Restarting Tracker always fixes it, so it's not a big deal.
I don't mind the file size at all. Well worth it.

is this mod supposed to keep track of previous turns? when i click on turn list it only has turn 9 and i im currently on turn 13. it seems to be updatin ok cos on the task force screen all the TF's are in the correct hexes and the alert screen has turn 13's alerts but at the bottom it saus last turn loaded turn 9?

You must have quit the program before it finished loading the turn. The turn information is updated last in the process, so it's likely that most of turn 13's information was loaded, but the turn information record was not added to the database. If you load turn 14 and ensure it's completed (the footer progress bar reads "Finished"), the last loaded turn should be updated.

RE: Happy New Year -- WitPTracker now at 1.5
Tonedog, I get that too sometimes. If you quit Tracker and restart, it should fix it -- just reload the turn you hung on. To minimize the chance of the program hanging, I find it helps not to do ANYTHING else while Tracker is loading a turn. I just get up from the PC for a sec. If I open a web browser or do anything else, it seems to annoy Tracker.
Tracker only keeps track of turns you load. Also, you can't load earlier turns. So get in the habit of immediately "running" your latest savegame in Tracker after you run the turn. Me, I run a turn; alt-tab out; copy the new autosave to my Tracker folder; rename it; and run Tracker on it.

grotius, do u get any error messages in your dos window after u read the turn?
ive tried what u said but its still gettin stuck on compare pilots and these errors are still hapnin. what info gets loaded after "compare pilots"? it seems to be loadin some stuff from the turn so im just wonderin what info it isnt loadin.
i wonder if it could be the mod i use. i use niks mod.

As noted in an earlier post, Tracker also hangs for me during the "compare pilots" stage. I have tried reinitializing the DB several times, but always get the same result. I am not getting error messages, though; the program just hangs. (Before v1.5, it was running without any problem). If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful; I have become dependent on the program!

If you have a turn it hangs on pilots, please send the save file for the turn being loaded, the save file for the previous turn and the witptracker.properties file to witptracker@gmail.com and I'll look at why it's hanging.

RE: WitPTracker 1.0
While checking leaders for HQs I could not find the Aus 1st Army nor the Aus 1st Corp in the list of HQ. They are listed as Large LCUs however.
