I need some feedback

I need some feedback

Post by Grenadier »

It appears that the only times a designer gets feedback on his scenarios is when they are posted on a Forum post. As my scenarios are on the Raiders Arsenal site or Fabio Prado's site, I do not see much feedback about them. It has been nearly a year since I did a new scenario for the community and I need to know if they are valued. There are a lot of very good designers who have come up in the last year and I know I cannot hold a candle to Redleg anymore :)

My time is being increasingly consumed by CL so I do not want to do SPWaW scenarios if they are not being played much. Those of you who have downloaded my latest scenarios,"Road to Kharkov" and "Von Manstein's Vindaication." how are they? Were they good or did they suck? or were they simply average? What did you like about the? What did you dislike? Any problems in the design?

Hello Grenadier!

I for one play you scenarios and love them, the historical value you put in your scenarios are a joy for me. I find them challenging and fun, sometime you defend, advance or even run :D Always different that is for sure. The 20, 25 turn scenarios I love.
I would be really sad if you would quit making scenarios for SPWaW, as far I am concern you rumble with the best scenario makers out there.

I have played The Road to Kharkov and really enjoy it Col Krause manage a small victory by the skin of is teeth and denied the Russian Beast the victory, the T-34 and KV-1 kept a coming and kept a coming  I saved my tank reserve till the 17 turn and sneak on the Russian flank and rear and all hell broke loose, also save my airforce till the 15 turn, this tactic won me the scenario but at a cost to my troops. Also got big headache fron Russian arty. All in all I love it and will play it again after a while.

My next in line to play is Von Manstein's Vindaication, see what I can do in this one.

Keep up the good work Brent they are a joy to play. ;)

Brent ... I've been an avid consumer of every scenario you've produced. It's amazing to me how you have managed to consistently sustain such a high level of excellence over such a number of scenarios. I'd hate to think I'd seen the last of your SP:WaW efforts that have given me so much pleasure (and teeth gnashing). However, I must confess I'm severely torn between wanting more for SP:WaW and taking time away from your efforts on CL. Tough call. But, I guess the bottom line is that what you've produced so far is so rich that I probably haven't exhausted their replay value ... especially those in which I got trounced the first (or second) time through. So, if you can contribute to getting CL to us faster ... and better ... go to it!

Tankhead - this is an old one and I'm not trying to be mean - but after installing 7.1 did you delete the "Steel.prf" file out of the save directory. If you did PLEASE forgive me - I am only trying to help and have forgot to do that many times myself - knowing better.

Brent - don't you dare stop making scenarios for SPWAW - you have become a master of the level of Wild Bill - and I don't say that without meaning it!! We need your scenarios to help keep the flame going.

Just so you get an idea, "The Road to Kharkov" was downloaded more than 800 times, since 06/23/2002. There seems to be a "silent majority" of fans around there...The Tiger fans, this I can tell you, act like Tigers - silence, then heavy downloads! ;)

Kind regards,

Played the scenario, and got draw.

I usually don't much care about tank battles, but seeing that huge armada of T-34's just forced me to play it. So, i think the idea was brilliant.

Only thing I'd really like to complain about, was usage of mines. It was bit gamey, as they were in front of victory hexes.

I'm going to let this scenario rest for a while, and play it then again.

Hi Figmo,

Thanks for the tip. Perhaps it's old, but I missed it. Could you tell me what that file is and why I should delete it?

Many thanks,

The Steel.prf file as all the option you have set in the prefference-option screen and once in a while it does get corrupted. When you start noticing weird things happening in the game delete the prf file and reset your option in the game.

Thank you for trying it out. I did the mines that way for 2 reasons, 1
To give some parity to the defense and
2
To force the German player to think twice about reoccupying the hexes just to get the points. Each version has different types of VO's. depending if it is German vs AI or Soviet vs AI / 2 player

800 downloads, WOW!
Talk about the SILENT MAJORITY :D
