Spent a whole lot of time with Mr. Friedman in his explanation of them.. and then some. Also have a couple of other books in storage which have some incredible pictures of the DDs of the Allen type and some even earlier. Hardy souls, those old tin can men were.

Mr. Friedman is an excellent source, although it takes a bit of digging to follow the 4-piper upgrades. If you do not have it, be sure and get his Amphibious Ships Book.

Have to wait for the Finance Department to give approval for another one of those (specially with AE expected sometime in the relatively near future, hopefully!) But, somewhere in a storage box (until we get to our new parish,) I have a lot of other books on tin cans (as you can imagine from my sigpic.) But thanks for the heads up..

I'll buy this game the day it is released, and I will wait patiently for that day. I have never posted asking when. But I'm reading this thread and wondering if it is gameplay which dictates the day of release or if it's the need to come up with a tiny little picture, which I will probably never see, and certainly not attach any importance to, of a destroyer with one more or less boiler and stack.

Forgive me. I meant no offense. I bought the original WITP the day it was released and only began my first campaign vs the AI after 18 months of comparing every detail of the scenario and database with my own sources. I'm still playing that first campaign. It just crossed my mind is all. Some people should be developers and some should be modders.

I have every confidence in the team working on AE. They'll get it out as soon as they reasonably can. All impatience to the contrary, of course, since I think we all want it NOW! [:D]

I can't speak for the team, but it's pretty safe to say they wouldn't hold up release for the kind of details we're seeing here. However, once the project was basically put on hold for an AI re-write, that gave the graphics guys more time add the kind of tweaks and finishing touches we're seeing here. I suspect the AI "restart" allowed time for many other other little upgrades that otherwise would only have appeared in patches, if at all.
