Reinforce button: MIA?

Post by Desultory »

Hello everyone, longtime CC series player, first time poster here. I have a simple question:

What the heck happened to my reinforce button?

I recently started a new campaign - having played several previous campaigns for both sides where I was able to use the reinforce button without difficulty. But in this new campaign (German grand campaign, 'elite' force strength for me and 'recruit' for the allies, 15 minute games, battles ending based on morale or victory location control) I have never, ever seen a reinforce button come up. Is there some restriction I'm missing? I know I can only use it once per BG (I haven't been able to use it at all for any BG yet), I know I need road access to a major supply depot, including control of the proper victory location on the present map. It may be worth noting that I didn't even look for the button in the early campaign, it wasn't until 5 or 6 days in that some BGs ran low on panzers and I was unpleasantly suprised to find the button wasn't there, and hasn't been for any BG that has encountered battle since I started looking for it over the past several turns. It also may be worth noting that if I hit "edit opponent", they often have a reinforce button, just not me.. so what am I missing here?

There are a few German BG's that can reinforce as they had few reserves.

There are many more Allied BG's that can reinforce as reserves arrived throughout the campaign.

In CCIV no German BG's could reinforce at all.... we have improved this feature somewhat.

Can number of reinforcements for each group be modded?

Yes it can be.

Column H of the Bgroups TAB in the workbook determines how many times each Bgroup can reinforce.

Cool[:)]. I think I'll play with my idea of company-sized battlegroups when the patch will come out[:)].

That's very odd - in my last campaign I recall reinforcing armor BGs to replace lost panthers. I suppose I must have ended up with different armor BGs taking the heaviest losses this campaign, is there any sort of guide to which ones have a reinforce available?

Edit: and not to sound critical, I do appreciate this feature being added at all, it's an improvement from CCIV classic to be sure. Just confused about the.. inconsistency of German ability to reinforce.

I suspect that inconsistence would be more realistic - as long as it's intentional and customisable - after all, reinforcements would probably have worse quality than the original unit.

I know I need road access to a major supply depot, including control of the proper victory location on the present map.

Now what does that mean?
Proper Victory Location on the present map?
And whats considered a proper VL?

I only ask as I cant seem to use the reinforce button for this BG at Dasburg even though I have a clear line to a friendly supply depot..
(And I didnt see anything in the manual about Proper Victory Location on the present map)
Edit:
The button is there it just says that my BG is cut from supply.

Can you post your saved game Platoon_Michael it might help for checking/testing..

Contested maps are not considered a clear a supply line when tracing a supply line. Though if your BG is on a supply depot it is considered to be in supply. It looks like the code for checking if the reinforcement button can be enabled may not be checking to see if your BG is on the same map as the supply depot....

Yes I used that and not the fast reply option.
I went ahead and played the Battle.
I also seen it once before for a German BG,same type situation.(When entering a map)
Still an error when uploading.
I can e-mail or send it through MSN if you want?

Just realized that. No your BG in Dasburg can not trace a supply line through uncontested maps thus it is cut off and should not be able to reinforce.

In all honestly it wasnt cut off,I was able to use the reinforce button on the 2nd turn.
Same with the German BG I seen it happen to.Yes both BG's had just entered the map but they both had a direct line to maps with supply as there are no German BG's on either Heinerscheid or Troivierges thus allowing what should be an open path.

correct?

Just checked and Dasburg does connect to Heinerscheid (the map with the 505 / 82 AB on it) so you are correct there is/was an open supply line for the US BG in Dasburg. Wonder if it is something to do with moving the same turn???
