uniforms.txt

Post by LapsedPacifist »

Hi,

Having modded uniforms on the old CC5 using the soldier colour editor I thought the advent of a uniforms.txt for changing uniform colours without diddling with the .exe was a great idea. Only one problem - nobody seems to know what the values indicate in the uniforms.txt file!

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might find out what the values represent in this file?

Any help much appreciated.

Actually...I had already asked Mafi about this when CCWAR was released last year...and Mafi was quick with providing a solution and a patch for RTBTool! [&o]
You can extract Uniforms.txt values from the CC5.exe (also CC4, CCM and RTB) using Mafi's latest RTBTool (v2.26).
Download the tool here: http://home.claranet.de/ftf/

I requested the update at the CSO forums a few weeks after CCWAR's release...you missed that discussion, Drill?
I believe Firefox also successfully used the RTBTool module for his WAR VetBoB mod.
Nicely done by Mafi...as always! Mafi's support for CC modding and tools is always amazing![&o]

Yeah, I guess I did miss that, or didn't see the relavence at the time. That output is similar to the Uniform.txt file already in the Data\Base files currently in CCRAF, CCM v5 and v6, WaR and TLD. I'm lobbying for the visual color editing tool such as the ones below. The top one is by TheBlood! and requires a seperate version for each .exe, the bottom one is by CplFilth and is only for CC2 thru CC5.

Yeah...a visual tool would be great! I've never seen that CCM Uniform Color Editor, BTW...nice!
Before new tools are released though...you can use Soldier Color Editor (by CplFilth) to edit/create custom uniforms...save the new exe...then use Mafi's RTBTool to extract those uniform color values to a new CCWAR/TLD uniforms.txt file.

Now...if only we could also automatically extract CC5 StratMap data into the StratMap.txt file [;)]

They are 32-bit RGB color values.  The colors are, in order:

RESERVED / UNUSED, Body, Legs, Head, Belt, Boots, Weapon, RESERVED / UNUSED

These are mapped onto the soldier sprites and combined with the existing sprite color (which is some shade of grey), which will affect the final color.

Thanks for all the help, fellas.

Have the RtB tool and was able to extract the uniform colour codes from my own modded CC5.exe into notepad and transfered those via excel into the CC LtD Uniforms.txt. Just as you said. [:D]
