unattended autoplay

Post by JUNGLE JACK »

In an attempt to build a league history I began my league in the year 1903 and ran it on autoplay until I wanted to control a team. Low and behold "Wee" Willie Keeler is belting fifty HRs a season while I'm eating dinner.
If I sim one season at a time (time consuming) then the numbers seem to come out o.k. but in autoplay I literally have players hitting over a hundred HRs and driving in 200 runs.

Anyone else have this problem... or better yet, a solution?

It sounds as if you have a stadium issue. Some of the "generic" parks have some awfully odd dimensions. If one (or more) of your teams is playing in one of those parks, stats will be skewed.

Yep, that's definitely sounds like a stadium issue there.

But why would simming just a single season make any difference? The stadiums don't change.

I thought maybe it had something to do with the extremely early era I was playing in - so I tried starting in 1920 and still had nobodies leading the league in HRs in seasons that they hit maybe ten in real life.

I will try to rectify this by looking at the stadium config, but I have my doubts.

With the game defaults you will get some extra high totals for early eras. However, simming a single year should give the same skew that you would see by simming multiple years, though I'm not the best person to chime in on this as I've never simmed extended periods of time.

Well, whether or not I use generic or actual ballpark configs makes no  difference.  One season in a 1906 replay the league leader in the American league had like fifty HRs - the National league leader had ten.  usually (I've tried this like ten times now with slightly different settings) both leagues are completely out of whack.

[&o]Apparently it WAS a stadium issue all along... although not the generic stadiums, but the historic stadiums that were causing the problems.  I just autoplayed about 1/4 of a season and looked at what teams were hitting way too many hrs and adjusted accordingly.

You definitely will run into that problem using historically accurate stadiums as some of those things only had 250' foul lines.
