- Fixes an issue that could cause TFs moving at cruise speed and full speed to move the same distance

Since this is happening in my game, which distance was the correct one, pre-patch? (i.e. so i'll know what to expect the next time my TFs travel out at Full and Cruise respectively)

They both moved at cruise speed, the full speed distance was incorrect (too small)

Have installed hot fix, and am running on a HP dual-core.

The speeds are now dramatic to say the least; with loading the game plus a save up and running in under five seconds.

Also have noticed that when bringing up the game from minimized in windows mode is now instantaneous.

Thank you Erik and team, again you have excelled.

OMG that is awesome. I play in windowed mode on my large screen LCD - keeping the manual, planning map, and internet open. Whenever I switched back to AE, it took literally 15 seconds sometimes. I didn't think anything of it. Now it's instant. THANK YOU to the team!

Does this patch address any of the OOB database issues in the main campaigns?

The beta patch doesn't make the game run with Wine in Linux.

Wow, judging from other folk's results, I must have done something wrong.  I wonder if I can uninstall the hotfix and try again...

You mean Queen Elizabeth will go even faster now at full speed?? That ship already flies across the Pacific on mission speed!

Erik, I d/l the hotfix and installed it.  I've created a new shortcut to the new .exe and added the -w parameter.  After it started, I checked the affinity of the process, and it has both cpu's checked.  I had been running with the "affinity hack" mentioned in the Tech Support forum, with great results, and it only had one cpu checked.  Have I done something wrong, or should I not see only one cpu checked with the hotfix .exe?

Not sure why you'd need a new shortcut, the patch installer should overwrite the default game exe. No need for any outside fixes or settings, it's all in the exe now.
Edit: No, switching between windows and then back to the AE window is back to my "pre-affinity hack" lag with the hotfix .exe. The game does show version 1.080 at the top.
Edit 2: I was not experiencing any of the other performance problems related to displays that some had reported, so I can't say if that was impacted by the hotfix for me or not. Right now, AE hotfix runs like WitP always has on my dual core laptop. I am getting used to the quicker performance of the hacked version, though. [;)]

Very odd, not sure if something else you have set is overriding things, over here this hotfix includes the affinity fix inside the exe itself.

OK, I got it figured out and working.  With the affinity "hack", I didn't need to use the -dual parameter.  Now, to get the hotfix affinity change to work, the -dual parameter is required.  Added it, and things are flying again.  [8D]

No, this is just a hotfix for the issues listed in the first post, which we felt needed a quicker fix for those who want it. The first official update is still in the works.

Should the codes look like this?

-w -dual

I mean should there be a space between the switches?

Thanks,

Yes, always a space between them. Here's how the Target field in my shortcut looks:

"C:\Matrix Games\War In The Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -fd -altFont -deepColor -dual

Hello!
Ok, after installing I see that hex value for the move change for the full speed option changed, but cruise and mission speed remains the same. Is it correct?
For example TF 416 in scenario 1 (ASW combat TF in Pearl Harbor):
Cruise speed - hex values (9/4), ship speed  15
Mission speed - same hex values (9/4) as for cruise  but speed is set at 33
Full speed - hex values (9/9) speed set at 33.
So is there any difference between cruise and mission? Range values for cruise and mission are the same.

Best Regards

ART, Mission TF speed setting will use whatever is most appropriate between Cruise and Full speed.  Cruise forces the TF to only go that speed, and Full forces the TF to only go that speed.  Clear as mud?  [:D]

Basically, if it works like in WitP, they'll use cruise speed most of the time, but full speed with everything that has to do with combat and dangerous ops: if you set mission speed for a Bombardment TF for instance and have them arrive at night, they'll do whatever is needed so they are the farthest possible away from the target once they've bombarded the crap out of the target.

Yes, that's correct Art. Displayed speed for Cruise and Mission should look the same, but Mission Speed has more flexibility in actual usage.

So I should delete the affinity.exe and just use -dual now on the new patched exe?
