How to re arm CVs?

Post by slick willy »

I am trying to figure out how to add more sorties to a CV. The manual is not very specific with how to do it, other then I need a support TF or a replenish TF. Can anyone help? What kind of mission? What ships do I use? What do I load on the ships?

If your out in BFE, get a largish AE load it with suplys and disband it into a port along with some AO's with fuel on board in a Replenishment TF in the hex, the just hit refuel at sea and they will fill up with Ammo and fuel for the planes and ships as well.

Or go to a Big Port.

AEs will only rearm to a certain caliber underway right?

How is this effecting Aviation Ordnance? Can you replenish torps and 1000 pounders underway?

think you have to be in a port Rogue until around 44' or so......I generally find a 'safe' port/base near the action to base a replen TF @ thats got some AO's and AE's......... they will rearm/refuel; your surface and Air tf's as far as i know.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am able to refuel the TF, but still not able to add more sorties to my CV. I found the description for AE class ships in the manual, and it states that "underway rearming is not available until late in the war." Current date in game is March 5 1942. Does this mean I have to take the CV to port?

To make it work I disband the AE (it has to have suplys on board, and be a bigish AE) into the port, say a size one port at Lunga, then I place a Replenshiment TF in the same hex (Lunga), move my CV TF to that hex hit refuel at sea, and wa-la, its chock full of everything.

If for some reasion it does not work ,OP's points may of been expended, or theirs no suply on the AE, also try disbanding the CV TF into the same port as the AE, then reforming the CV TF and hit refuel from port.

By 1945 all U.S. ships should be able to take on any ordnance by underway replenishment from a Replenishment TF that has an AE and adequate (not sure what this is) supply. I'm not sure exactly how fast this capability should develop over the course of the war but USN ships had already developed and practiced Alongside Underway Fuelling by the time the war began whereas the IJN was figuring out how to manage replenishment at sea by trailing a hose over the stern (a slower method much more dependent on favorable weather) as the KB sailed to bomb Pearl Harbor.

May be that all the op points are used refueling. Try again next turn and see if the sorties are restored. This can even happen in a port.

I think there's an on-screen report that alerts you when op points aren't sufficient to get everyone fueled/rearmed; I've seen some kind of alert like that after manually refueling with an AO/AE TF.
