Gameplay Issues

Post by MPHopcroft1 »

These probably aren't bugs, since I've encountered them in earlier editions, but I've run into a few gameplay issues when managing a team on the field (badly; I'm taking a pennant-winning club to a 3-7 start in their first ten games):

1. The lineup change screen is very difficult for me to use. I've actually been unable to make double switches which I wanted. In addition, pinch-hitters who come in for the pitcher are listed as pitchers on the screen and in the boxscore, which looks awkward to say the least.

2. There is no way other than performance to tell that a pitcher is tired, and it's hard to tell what pitch count you should be keeping for which pitcher, especially in earlier leagues.

3. The option to call a squeeze play is not available -- period. In several obvious situations I couldn't lay down a squeeze bunt because the option wasn't there at all.

All of these problems have cost me games -- potentially cost me most of my 7 losses, or at least prevented me from being more competitive in them. None of these problems seem to apply to computer-managed teams, who always seem to know when the optimum time is to pull the starter and seem to ahve no trouble makign double switches.

Is there a reason for these issues or ways to work around them?

I think I can help you with the double-switch. I never have trouble, and I even make triple-switches at times.

1. Substitute the new pitcher in his new batting order position.
2. Make any other fielding position changes needed except the player leaving the game.
3. Substitute for the player (usually the old pitcher) leaving the game.

This works everytime for me.
