Im making war, not trouble~

The Germans are all tucked into bed like good little soldiers on this wonderful Spring night in 1945 --- what's that?? --- Oh, it's just the Yanks (or is that the Brits?) dropping in for a little fun. You think they would have learned from their mistakes... :rolleyes:
Sound the claxons!! Grab your fowling pieces! It's raining Allied (sitting) ducks.
I (almost) feel sorry for those poor AB bastards.

Turn 1
Many Pathfinders descend over the battlefield..most are shot at or hit by Flak..20mm,37mm, even (I think) 88mm........
Not a plane lost......
I admit I wanted to drop as many units as possible on the east side of the start line, but those are mainly support units..but I did drop the Recon units on R-mans head:eek:
I dont feel bad about my drop
Go R-man!!!

Tally after AB drop:
US Recon Patrols Eliminated = 9
M9 Bazooka Teams Eliminated = 3
British Recon Patrols Eliminated = 9
British AB Squads Eliminated = 4
Allied AB units still alive after airdrop = 1 (as far as recon can tell).
That stubborn Brit recon unit will be dispatched next turn as their is nowhere for him to hide. I am, however, worried a little about a massive Allied arty retaliation in that zone.
German losses to Allied Op Fire = 0.
German Friendly fire casualties = 4 unfortunate individuals. Field Reports indicate that the Allied Recon troops were running away so fast that my MGs traversed right along with them as the Yanks and Brits dove into Axis fortified postions for cover. Oh well, if you're going to shoot some Allied sitting ducks, you have to break some eggs.
Apparently, the Germans aren't too good with their metaphors.
Other Intel Reports indicate at least one burning cargo/glider aircraft off to the east of our positions. We'll be waiting for whomever those individuals may be.
Bring it on Jess. If you keep dropping in piecemeal like this you won't do to well.

1 wave landed...southen Brits..landed right on top of R-Mans killer fast react unit(s)..ouch...his next killa count might even be higher!:mad:
americans north flank...nice;)
more support units to the right......
3-150th wave to follow...
now back to the killing grounds of R-mans "FAST REACTION"
He is mobile, he is fast, and he is ruthless:mad:
Question...how good are german mg's against Brit AB tanks??

Tally after Second Airdrop:
British AB units = 6 dead, 2 left alive
British Commandos = 5 dead, 4 left alive
Locusts = 2 dead, 2 alive
Tetrachs = 3 dead, 1 alive
Unless more AB arrives soon, the mop-up of the remaining units will be a simple matter.
And, I see your Yanks trying to sneak up on my positions in the North. At least they were smart enough to drop to the east instead of deep in my own ZOC.
The bad news is that on the Allies turn, they destroyed one of my recon kugelwagons and caused a 20mm AAA truck crew to bail.
I also lost two recon vehicles to immobilization due to return fire from AB squads that didn't realize their situation was futile.
And Jess, I believe my 20mm autocannons and 75mm guns are more than enough to take out your puny AB tanks. (I just wish my tanks shot a little better.)
I must admit that I was a little nervous about the number of units that dropped in, but I think I took care of as many as could be expected. And, none of the Brits can say they lacked attention from my defenders. I would not be surprised if they are all retreating on my next turn.
The men in the north would like another helping though, they felt a little left out that last go-around.

Report to German High Command
The silly Brits have been vanquished in my southern sector. They even dropped several 17 pdrs for us to liberate from their limmy clutches.
Southern Sector casualties as a result of airborne raid = two immobilized recon vehicles and a few casualties among the MC squads.
Further losses to the Brits:
AB squads = 2 dead
Commandos = 4 dead
17 pdr AT = 3 destroyed
Locust = 2 destroyed
Tetrarch = 1 destroyed
Scouts report no further activity in the South.
As for the northern sector, there appear to be two platoons of US Airborne (6 total squads) in the extreme northern woods that have infiltrated and are fighting mad. They actually shot at and injured a MC squad that our Italian friends provided. -- The nerve of those Yanks! They had two MG squads in support, but scouts took care of them. One AB squad was introduced to a FT which sent them running for momma. The rest have been left alone for further "attentions" to be given momentarily.
To the East we are harrassing an arty park that the Yanks are trying to set up. It cost us another kugelwagon, but that is the price to be paid for spotting for our own arty.
Total German losses so far:
~3 kugelwagons
2 recon vehicles immobilized
All squads report in at greater than 50% strength.
Like I said at the beginning, it's like shooting ducks in a barrel.:rolleyes:

At least, every one that I spotted is now gone. If your plan was to serve them up in just the right amounts for me to take out in one turn, it is working.Originally posted by M4 Jess
now its time for American engineers to die:(
I think I see your real plan: Like the movie "Rocky" you're just letting me wear myself out by pounding on you and then, just when I run out of ammo, you'll throw your last wave at me and carry the day.

Here's the tally for this turn:
US engineers = 4 dead
US AB squads = 3 dead
US .30 MGs = 3 dead
I also decided to bring the fight to the Allies in the east and having located a large collection of artillery, I decided to take away Allied mobility, so scratch 3 .30 cal MG Jeeps, in addition to the one I forgot to mention last time. Now your 75mm Packs and 81mm mortars can't get too far away before I bring another hail of nebelwerfers to that area.
There are still US AB squads in a thick woods to my north that I haven't gotten yet. I figured I'd let Jess stumble upon a couple more of my FT squads while he's hiding in there before I come in after him.
German losses in this turn: 1 kugelwagon (because I just had to confirm which building one of his squads was hiding in

When 12 squads of Commandos appear in your downtown area, what do you do? I'll tell you not what to do: Count on your Italian friends to be any good at helping you rid the town of the vermin.
I did manage to get rid of 6 of them and several more are retreating. However, in my eagerness to get to the action, I lost a FT Tank to a previously unseen engineer squad.
That squad was dispatched for causing me the injury.
On other fronts:
Another batch of Tetrarchs was eliminated.
A few AB units were dispatched, but at a cost because I did not see one squad and I blundered into it.
My Italian motorcycle squads ran away after being pounded from moving too close to the American front lines.
My nebelwerfers only managed to suppress the 75mm Howitzers, but I am picking away at them with my recon units. And, I destroyed an 81mm mortar.
Overall, I am not happy with my sloppy troop movement. I should never have lost that FT Tank. And there are far too many targets at this point for me to eliminate all of them each turn. Things could start to get hot soon. Overall, things are still going well for me, however.

He won't.
All AB has been eliminated from behind the front lines (except for maybe a few that are cowering in holes somewhere).
There is a light push in the northeast where there are thick woods. We have a present or two for the Allies if they ever get the nerve to come out of there.
We are taking a few casualties now in the East front where the Allies were allowed to drop unopposed (again, focused mainly in the north). But these casualties are light and we are giving much more than we are getting.
As for the arty park in Jess's back area, recon has eliminated several tubes of 81mm and 75mm. I am taking casualties there as well, but I seem to have him pinned down because any transport vehicle I see is quickly being eliminated.
All still seems quiet in the south. But, Jess, for your sake, I hope you are not just trying to draw all my forces to the north. That strategy won't work as I am employing a zone defense and like any good football coach will do, I have instructed my forces not to leave their zones. The guys in the middle are getting a little bored however. Could you please drop some targets, I mean, soldiers in the middle soon?
Hey, I just noticed that with this post, I am now a veteran of the Forum, does that mean I will automatically play better?
