Errr... no AG-16 Utah?

Post by fbs »

Her sinking was one of the poignant events of the PH attack.

Perhaps could add her, as one-of-a-case ship with no guns/no capability, and get her to retire anyway on 1942?

Thanks,
fbs

Mr. Terminus, thank you for the information, but I kinda know the editor is there.

I posted the suggestion for respect of those that died in the Utah, and it stands.

Thanks,

Utah was in CHS and opinion was divided. She has not real purpose and is a torpedo magnet that can "save" other ships. The decision in AE was to leave her out.

If you do want to add her, you can get artwork and most specs from CHS.

Utah was a 'torpedo magnet' in the real attack which enraged the flight commander. interesting that you put yard oilers in the game but not this ship.

Ok since you interested also explain please why 15m launch make game but important ship like this failed. i doubt i am only one that would like to know.

what if japan do manila attack or if not sink in port? what would this ship have been used for? history says she used as troop ship. maybe put into service as aa gun for screen or in port to defend advance tender bases. lots of use for this ship if it survive.

Let me counter with a question. If the Target/AA Training Ship Utah was to survive, what game use would she be?

Don, I believe that he means for you to re-read his last post where he had editted in more information after you posted...

Personally, I think that we are just as well off without the hulk in the game...

It would serve no useful function whatsoever, and is not an "important ship". Individual users want to put it into the game, that's their prerogative. It will not be in the official game.

Me too Brad. Taking Don completely off the hook here, I was the one who decided not to include Utah in the game; for all the reasons that Don and so many others have given.

Utah is not, and will not be, in the game. If that don't float your boat, you have the editor to make things to your liking.

I agree.  The game mechanics make her inclusion problematic.  It can mess with PH results and there is no useful purpose for her afterwards except as a target {I'd hate to be assigned to a ship whose sole purpose is a target}.  If she needs to be included, make a LCU named U.S.S. Utah and give her some AA guns.

I would think ally would use like langley if no else. deliver airplanes maybe troops. maybe not java but maybe new zealand and other in south pacific. her use in peace maybe not same as in war when every ship needed. i would think us navy not keep this ship to be target and train ship in war. could do with smaller cheaper ships. so they keep for reason and make ag of it instead of rid it.

ed: i not care myself. i play japan only so far.
