Quick question, can u determine a series of maps for the campaign generator? Meaning does it just select a map or more than one map for the time of year you start out in the generated campaign or is this something you can alter?

gjas,

Both the Random Campaign generator and Battle Generators are totally configurable. You can do a lot with them but you may need to get your hands dirty with some xml editing. Details are in the documents files in the install.

Oh you meant this Typhoon. This is Mraah's yes.

I thought you meant Mobius's road to Mcensk campaign which was part of the real life Typhoon.

Mraah is MIA.

I looked into the adobe documents for the pckcg and pckce and found that you can select a scenario template(s) such as the winter map L5w or Piepsk winter map and edit the time of year - months the campaign takes place such as one that only takes place in winter. Im still partial to the pc - winter storm scenarios from the first game which pck seemed to lack but obviously its historical as the battle took place in late spring and early summer months however, this time of year its neat to have some winter battles included. I do miss the weather effects such as snow fall from cmbob but the snow on the ground still looks cool.

I have only one more question that I missed somewhere in the help documents: With the winter scene files from pcws scenarios, how can I add these map templates to a ramdom edited winter only campaign? If I remember right I tried to add them to the battle generator but it came up with an error for some reason, can't remember but I suspect it was due the fact they are not empty map templates but rather scenarios with pre-defined unit positions and scripting on them? Hope Im not confusing the subject too much...

I guess he's not working on it currently but it sounded (looked) nice judging from Stridors map edits and the campaign description... moreover, the drive to Moscow was a real turning point in the war against the Soviets in mho. I believe that the major mistake was spliting the strength of army group centre to reinforce army group souths and thus slowing the drive to Moscow down to a halt... but many consider Stalingrad as the real turning point as it was a real loss of an entire army there but if they had of moved on or had an earlier start date in 41' they might have overwelmed the defense around Moscow before Stalin had time to order a complete dig in defense.

PCK's game engine could be used to create a grand strategy campaign where a user has a entire overview map of the eastern front and moves armys to attack along the front toward Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, etc.. and then plays out the battle scenarios on a map or auto completes them. I've been searching for such a game. I understand that BattleFront was working on a eastern front grand strategy campaign game using the cmbob engine but trashed it due to the games engine not being able to complete such a task most likely due to it's age. This engine however, seems to have more promise especially with its editibility through the battle/campaign generators and the xml files. Just wondering if anyone has ever had a similar idea as mine?

PCK's campaign framework is pretty moddable., but, it's linear. I think you'd want to have a campaign thrat would allow branching based on outcome of battles to accomplish what you're talking about. Maybe that might be something they would consider in the next game in the series, PC III.

In the meantime, though, you can create some pretty neat campaigns as it is right now. But it does take time.
