Estab (weapon) data in SM

Post by Lieste »

Is it possible to increase the size of the Estab box by the 1 or two rows needed to get 'all 6' range bands listed without needing to scroll? It should only be a minor change, but the current arrangement makes comparing more than a very few units a trying business.

I am not a big fan of the priority given to Anti Aircraft and Anti Armour strength over Anti Personnel (although this is only because of the list order AFAICT, which is alphabetical). It isn't hard to figure out how to get the data you want, but it is a pain having to check that APers is still in effect and changing it before comparing range/accuracy/ROF data.

Additional methods of parsing the list would be 'nice to have', such as only displaying weapons with bombard capability, or those with AT effect or APers effect, and keeping this selection prioritised in the drop-down list (while still allowing the other data to be viewed by the user).

Hi Lieste,

There's a CotA "wishlist thread" here:

tm.asp?m=1173978

However, I'm relatively certain that future development, like that which you suggest, will focus on the new Bulge game (and future titles). [:(]

PG has entertained the idea of remedying some errors/omissions from in the estabs, but that's not a certainty:

tm.asp?m=2074026

You do what you can do. [:)]

I know that BFTB is the current active project, and COTA is near EOL, but the UI for BTFB hasn't been available for comparison. Some of it may function more intuitively, but there are possibly fewer improvements in the 'extras' SM and MM than in the main Game Engine.

Good suggestion. I've resized the windows for BFTB. See below.

That is fast service for you [:D]
One more while I'm looking at your screenshot:

On the Fire Type line, it still isn't 100% clear that this is a drop-down list. Perhaps append a variation of the windows 'dropdown/combo box' down arrow on the right of the box to highlight the added functionality. I know that is how it works, but for users unfamiliar with the UI and who aren't experienced in testing and QA, this could be confusing?
