If not clickable "coins" then let there be Lassos!
I still find it annoying trying to select my infantry on the map.
If it's not easy to enable clicking on the 'coin' icons above them, then how about being able to 'lasso' with a click-drag? Please?

Would it be possible then, to at least make the selection tolerances higher, I agree with NK that selecting an inf squad requires pretty precise clicking which makes it a bit hard to play with a touchpad rather than a proper mouse.
Cheers

I suspect increasing the tolerance for your unit selection would also increase the tolerance for target selection ... ie, within 1 m to say 10 m ...which would make area fire very difficult if the closest you can get with that would be 10 meters. Perhaps they would have to make two different selection types, one for your unit (high tolerance), and one for targets (same tolerance we have now). I dunno ... good idea WhiteOwl !

Increasing tolerance might also make it well nigh impossible to select transports and transportees effectively. A big no to that idea.
Try using the HUD more for selection.

I'm sorry my reply was a bit facetious. I'll see what we can do to make it easier to select small units. For now, my best recommendation is to zoom in a bit or use the HUD.

A zoon to cursor function would help a lot. I Have to zoom quite often when I'm either targetting or checking LOS - I've found that if I zoon in enough, I have a better chance to read the Target Info - I'm simply not able to read it as it is, zoomingn in close helps.
Thanks,
Rick

Well, right now I'm clicking on one of the easily discernable infantry squads in the same platoon and then using the HUD to select the platoon leader's squad.
It's annoying but I'm managing. I don't want a fix that'll break other stuff - the lasso idea just seemed like an oft used way to help but I do realize that you can't select more than one unit at a time w/ this game so didn't know if it'd fly or not.

Clickable coins and turn off tress toggle is the obvious answer?

Clickable coins are now in the patch.
Indeed you can now use the coins for everything from targeting to mounting etc if you want.
Makes selecting things in woods much easier.

The coins have been upgraded to not only show where the units are and be able to select them but they contain other information now that is easily identifiable at a glance.

I agree.. one reason that drove me away from playing the game is the tedious setup off loading infantry into APC's... if that has been made easier with 'clickable coins'.. then I'll have to reinstall and give it another try!

Better than that is some new hotkeys. In setup select the first inf squad, press L, move the mouse pointer to a mountable AFV or structure and the rubberband changes from blue to pink, click. Press N to go to the next inf and L and repeat. When you move the mouse pointer to the AFV to mount, you can point to the unit or the coin.
If you are not in setup, the Z key works the same way for mount/unmount on troops, or button/unbutton on tanks.
In addition to N from unit to unit, G moves to the next Leader unit in the HUD. That way you can skip over the AFVs to the next infantry Leader.

Yes, clicking on a coin takes you to the unit commander's facebook page.

It would be good if the scenario designer could specifiy if the infantry could start mounted. Would save having to do it manually.

Agreed, but in a random battle you might get a bunch of troops and a bunch of AFVs and want to mount them together. I have and I did, quickly too.
