editing leaders in the Editor

Post by gazfun »

Im having difficulty changing the leaders for a new scenario. I double click for a new leader it comes up as General 6 I change the name but it doesnt save it when I retype in the Generals Name, the next line comes with say FR Davout. Seems a bit cluncky actually this part of the editor.
Changing the Values of the Generals I get a error message each time I change the Generals Abilities.

We're adding a note to 14.3 in the manual:
NOTE: Only the Name field for naming new units should be edited; if you change nations and then return
to the previous nation, the Nation Units list should be updated with the new unit name(s).

Working through the process of creating a custom scenario, I've noted a number of editor issues for Marshall to review. Most parts work OK but there are still several items that don't or aren't very intuitive. It still needs some work. Unfortunately, this isn't a priority for v1.08 right now.

Awesome! Git that girl married off! Congrats!

FYI...
When you install 1.08.01, simply install it to a different folder than your production folder which will keep things separate. Make sense?

Sorry to jump in here but can I ask a question?

Is it possible in the editor to change the arrival date of a leader(such as Wellington can't come in until 1806)? If so how? In my 1792 Game I want to prevent some leaders from coming in until it is time. For example Napoleon exists but can't be placed on map until 1796.

Thanks Yearworld

I honestly cannot remember so I will look back and see.
BTW: If we cannot now we will add this (This is an obvious need).

Gaz:

All should be able to download 1.08.01 BETA soon. I will let you know when you can.
This would be the std BETA image which I know is getting some good testing but not in the PBEM area. It's tough (As you know) to really simulate PBEM without really playing it! I would like to see it run through a full year of game time. (Run one December levy). Cool?

Thank you

I have a list of volunteers but it's a little old. You can choose your own players if you wish?
If you log into Mantis, you can review the change list for each version.
The biggest PBEM changes that you should look for are:

Diplomacy and Economic phases are simultaneous!

Hi Marshall
none of the PBEM test games are going to get very far unless Mantis 639 is fixed, which stops new games in the Spain's January reinforcement phase.
Talking of Mantis, it looks like there has been no progress on this list for over a month. There are several bugs probably worth a look at (668, 666, 661, 643 and 638), and a couple of easy enhancements (660 and 635) that would be nice to have. Also if you have the code for the autozipping, why not include it in this BETA?
DB.

I am looking at it and will need a save for that one. Needless to say, I am behind and it does not look good for me catching up any time soon. I'm not doing any enhancements at this time DB. Simul has really kicked me back!

It looks like Del has indicated where the save is located, so we can clear up the #639 game stopper. Will the BETA be version 1.08.02?

One of the two enhancements I listed appears to be very straight forward (#660), which is to change the colour of the little box on beseiging corps to black (same as blockading fleet), instead of the current white, which is very confusing when the beseiged force also has a white box.

The other (#635) is to add a clear button to the land phase for setting orders. It is way too hard to find where to click for this function right now. It makes it really hard for newbies.

Depending on your prespective, either of these two could easily been as bugs.

Those are a little easier to add enhancement-wise so I will look. I updated Mantis yesterday. I actually had some fixes but was a little behind in my paperwork LOL!
I'll check into Del's save. Haven't looked in Mantis this morning.

That would be good. The lack of a clear "standing orders" button in the land phase has really tripped some people up and I am sure will continue to do so until fixed.

Having the different colour boxes for sieging and besieging forces would be nice simple improvement.
