How could an army not know where they are training there troops?

I don't really see the point of hiding unit strength once on the production circle UNLESS the strength are hidden until first battle. I am playing a game on the russian front where the value of Russian army reset every tile they leave the front and a new random one is taken when they fight again.

Best regards

It was part of the game for a long time. It wasn't so much as knowing where troops were being trained. Troops were hopefully being trained all over the world. It was more about the uncertainty of knowing when this or that unit from this or that part of the world was finally going to be produced, and not knowing exactly how good the unit was going to be when it was finally finished. With wiffee, now I can know EXACTLY what I am going to get, and where it is going to arrive, as much as 6+ months ahead of its time. Why not just dump the old system entirely and let players pay more if they want to "ensure" production of what they want where they want it.

They could have completely overhauled the unit production system and more closely linked it to the resource/factory production system. That way, if Commonwealth wants to buld only Indian units, then they have to pay more or something else to do so, for example.

As I said, it is a minor point. If you never played with the previous system, you're probably not going to understand it or like it, thus making it a moot point. It is just that a lot of us had fun with it, laughed and cried with it, but we all chinned up and played with the cards we were dealt. With the new system, I will now know every time if I am going to get Black Jack or not, no more suspense, everybody already knows everything, next in line please... [8|]

Personally, I don´t feel the old system was not so much "suspense" as "source of silliness". If you were nearing the bottom of your force pool, you would still know what those last two MECHs you build in the same turn have as values. But, building the same at beginning of the year, then not...

As for changing the production system - if using Factories in Flames you have just that opportunity, to construct specializations that allow you to PICK one unit of a certain type each production phase. So, the game already offers that option.

My main gripe about the production system is for CW who has units spread all over the world. There´s an option now to allow you to pick the country (not the specific counter) of a TERR being built, but taking one turn longer, that allows CW some control in building at least. I would really love that as an official option for all units.

Cheers

For sure the change to placing units face-up helped the CW in planning where to locate their sea lift - except for units arriving the next turn...

As a CW player I did like that and felt it was probably reasonable for the CW to know a turn or more ahead of time where their next corps was coming from. As an Axis player I grumbled about it for a brief period and then moved on.

Cool! Factories in Flames is one of the few add-ons I did not really get much of a chance to use.

So, it is good to see that my idea had already resonated somewhere in the game.

Thanks [:)]
