My forces discovered some British armor hiding out in the woods in the North. Very interesting!

No more Matildas have died this turn, however a 40mm AA did go down in flames! :D

My surprise in the north paid off :D One Stug, one PzII crew and a 6/2 AA. Wanna try and take revenge?

In the south, three Matties are facing down a lone 88 without transport. A FAT quad tries to provide some cover, but the wreckage doesn't smoke enough. Desperation move, or have I just been toying with you all this time? You'll find out soon enough...

In what turned out to be my last turn, my forces did indeed take some revenge on the Brits! Two Cruiser tanks, an AOP carrier, and a Bren carrier fell in the North.

While capturing the British rear area v hexes, a Pz III eliminated another 40mm AA gun and my forces exchanged fire with some foot units around the hexes.

In the South, another Matilda II went up in flames.

The final disposition of the battle was a draw. Not great, but far better than the surrender/crushing defeat of our last battle! My password, btw, was 'doandoon' for this battle.

Rematch?:D

Btw, if I understand what I've read in the forums correctly, it's possible to play a campaign, or even a mc, via PBEM! If we can figure it out, would you be interested in giving one a shot?

**** AI, just as my reinforcements arrived...
Take a look at the map and breathe a sigh of relief, password is 'absent'.

Rematch is cool. Any suggestions?

Yes, timing is everything, as they say. Had I not split off the Pz III, the Flakwagon, and the cavalry to go for the remaining v hexes, I would indeed have been in deep!

I'd like to try a German assault from the sea. Say Crete, Malta, or Norway against the British. Of course, that would depend on finding an appropriate map for such a thing.

Also, now that I hear we can play campaigns, how about a WWII campaign, Germans against the British, starting in France, 1940? Just a thought.

Otherwise, I'm open to suggestion!

Sorry, missed your 6:16 post.
Campaign would be nice. IIRC we'd have to set up two battles, so both players get to be player 1.
Not too sure I want to be the Brits if the AI keeps butting in like that. How about Germans vs Soviets?

OTOH a German amphib assault sounds intriguing....
we could always 'borrow' one of the Normandy beach maps for this.

Sounds good to me! Do you want to set it up, or should I give it a try? I wonder if the German OOB includes sunscreen and surfboards? :D

You'll have to set it up, being the assaulting player.
BTW I think you're supposed to have a 3:1 advantage on the attack.
Mind if I bring some mines and fixed installations?

Being somewhat new to setting these PBEM games up, how do I change the point ratio? Or does the game do that automatically when I select which type of battle it will be? (When I tried to set this up, I had 4105 points. The only way I could see to change that was the 'max points' button. Was I missing something, or do I just hit 'max points' and buy 3 times as many as I had to start?) Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but I'm still figuring some of the PBEM system out. :D

You can set the points for both sides in the preferences screen. There's a button on the ight on the setup screen.

Ok, I hope that I did this right. I chose the NA harbor city for the map, 2/42 as the date, 15K points for me, the Germans, and 5K points, for you, the British. 2 air for me, 4 for you. No Naval assets were available for me. Weird for a amphibious assault! (Kind of makes me think I may have messed up. We'll see.)

I was able to get the Malta map to work by selecting 'meeting engagement' with the above points and June/41. Either battle will be fun. I'll let you choose which one you want to use.

Hmm, the Normandy map has the deployment lines so far to the right, you'll be on the beach and moving inland on turn 1. Would too much like a regular meeting.
The Malta map looks great, but has the Brits starting in the water

Whee did you find the map? Maybe it'll work if I set it up.

Here it is. I hope you have better luck than I had setting it up. (It appears that the 'reversed map' problem is rearing its ugly head. :(

By George, I think I've got it! I managed to turn the sides around using the Editor function. The German set-up line may be very close to the beach, however I can always move my forces back 10 or 15 hexes, if it is too close.

It works, but in a meeting engagement, apparently both sides get 'free' landing craft :D
I used the map to set it up again, this time as a beach assault.
Everything seems ok so far...

BTW, It's not really important where the German starting line is.
In fact, close to the beach is better. Makes them easier to hit ;)
