Best game play settings for AI?

Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem is a highly enhanced new release of Close Combat, using the latest Close Combat engine with many additional improvements. Its design is based on the critically acclaimed Close Combat – A Bridge Too Far, originally developed by Atomic Games, as well as the more recent Close Combat: The Longest Day. This is the most ambitious and most improved of the new Close Combat releases, but along with all the enhancements it retains the same addicting tactical action found in the original titles! Close Combat – Last Stand Arnhem comes with expanded force pools, reserve & static battlegroups, a troop point buying system, ferry and assault crossings, destructible bridges, static forces and much more! Also included in this rebuild are 60+ battles, operations and campaigns including a new enhanced Grand Campaign!

Best game play settings for AI?

Post by sargexmy »

Hey guys,

ready to start a new German campaign vs. AI.
I want to set AI to green and myself Line (just to keep things fairly accurate in terms of team make ups)

what other settings should I choose (tick on) for the AI?

Last time I played, the Allied or German AI just sat there most of the time, and when they attacked, they just retreat and attack via the same route again and again when there is any sort of fire from my side... very slow and annoying.
Example, the XXX corp never even reached the end of their first map in 3 DAYS!!...

Only thing I am sure is that I don't want the AI to "always see my troops"
Not sure what exactly the other settings do in terms of changing AI behavior and attacking strategy.

Thanks

There are settings in Data/Base/Campaign.txt and Data/Base/BGroups.txt that can alter a BGs level of aggressiveness. The Campaign.txt file has explanatory remarks. The BGroups file needs reference to the existing CC Workbook to understand and identify the BG commander attribute settings that will change BG behavior.

Note: edit/save Campaign.txt with a hex editor or similar app (UltraEdit etc.) Use a spreadsheet app on BGroups (tab-delimited text)

Campaign.txt can be edited with notepad

Note :  you then have a mod and any h2h gaming opponents should be notified.

I hope someone makes a mod for more aggressive AI play. I frankly don't want to have to edit txt's just to make the AI fun to play against.

Hold off until the patch is out before starting a new campaign because there are some bugs in the strategic campaign map.

thanks for the tips.

yeah i definitely don't plan to play H2H; no time for that (im a student). but do hope that AI would be more aggressive.

I'll try to edit that BGroup.txt. anyone know where I can find the reference workbook?

thanks

I don't really want to be. I bought the game and that is enough for me [:)]
