air attack

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

air attack

Am I missing something? How do you make airstrikes on enemy airbases ? I never see them except when they intercept me

It helps if you know where the enemy air units are located. Air units can be based at any city or town hex.

To do an air strike on any hex, select the hex and then click the airstrike button, small diving plane icon, then select the air unit you want to attack with, either from the list or by selecting the unit directly. Then click attack.

If there are enemy air units based in the hex you attack they will get a huge penalty when defending against the attack so you can destroy lots of them "on the ground" and they will also get a large reduction in readiness making them less likely to be able to intercept you for a turn or 2.

Hope that helps.[8D]

I was hoping that playing the Intel card would give me some info on which bases contain enemy aircraft, but they are all invisible.  Probably needs a tweak here.

The intel card is only to try and discover possible variants. It has nothing to do with the unit on the board.

Ah - thanks.  I'm playing the Historical Campaign, so I didn't realise that variants still exist there.

Given that the Germans historically knew where the Polish Air Force was and destroyed much of it on the ground, maybe that should be taken account of in the game?  Are there too many Polish air units still alive at the start?

Well.. if you're playing the Historical Campaign there won't be any variants... but the cards to counter them are still there to tempt you. [;)]
Save your PP's for France and Sealion.... you'll need them.[8D]

That might be a good idea, though there's not that many Polish aircraft avaiable at start.
That does happen in the Case Yellow scenario though... the Germans can see the locations of all the opposing air forces.[8D]

Damn!  I spent my PP on that and now I can't get the extra German division that's on offer.  Time to start over, I guess...
