Similarities and differences to WW2 Time of Wrath?

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Similarities and differences to WW2 Time of Wrath?

Post by SlickWilhelm »

I'm very interested in this title, because for me the most interesting part of WWII has always been the early years.

I purchased WW2: Time of Wrath when it came out and enjoyed it. How would you guys compare ToW to "Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris"?

I wouldnt.Time of Wrath was a rip off and total waste of money for me.This game is far superior in all aspects.Time of Wrath is a poor version of HOI.

I strongly disagree with the description of ToW but this is an entirely different game - shorter time scale; no construction or research - I greatly enjoy both

I also like both games ToW (especially in PBEM) and this one. Their scope is very different though. TOW has a strong strategic component and models also production, R&D and diplomacy. Map scale is also very different. This game focuses on the operational aspects with a detailed supply system, many HQ effects etc. Decisive Campaigns is in my opinion a top game in this category. But I would more compare it to "Anglo-German-War" or "Kharkov - Disaster at the Donets" than to TOW as the others have already pointed out.

TOW is a strategic grand strategy style game. It is a good game that doesn't have a huge learning curve or massive micro-management yet keeps the groggish style.

DC is an operational game that is more focused. I'd say it has a bit more difficult learning curve but still isn't overwhelming. Operational games will have more terrain specifics such as roads, railroads, and such modeled so you'll get more 'nitty gritty' but you'll lack actually running your nation.
