What exactly are you looking for?

As for difficulty, play at whatever setting you prefer.  If you like seeing the rarer units, I suggest Recruit, where the ratio will give you more of them.

I give myself hardest difficulty and the AI the easiest difficulty to make things enjoyable.
You can also fiddle with the AI's unit selection if you want to make things tougher.

when the game was developed and play tested and the data put into the game.......i was under the assumption that someone would decide at what level represented historical settings. in some of the other CC series im pretty sure it says some where that the game should be played at line or vet or what ever level to simulate history. does that make any sense?

so, i guess what steve is saying is, he doesnt really know if there is a particular setting that gives you historical. play recruit and both sides get a bunch more equipment and rarer units? does it also effect the morale levels of the units if you play on recruit??

I believe I said "What are you looking for? Play on the level you like."  You appeared to be searching for some specific type of German heavy armor and I was asking what specifically you thought was missing.

The forces for all difficulty levels in LSA are 'historical'.  The team types and quantities for each force pool are based on the strength and composition of the historical force.  The quantities are scaled down to a level that makes sense for the abstractions in Close Combat (company-level front line combat). The scaling of the quantity is also affected by difficulty -- lower difficulty = less reduction in scale, higher difficulty = more reduction in scale.

The scaling level is the same for all force pools at the same difficulty.  So if both sides are set to 'Recruit' difficulty, you get the same scaling factor applied to both sides, and the effect is roughly equal.  If one side is set to 'Recruit' and the other side set to 'Line', then the side set at 'Recruit' has an advantage over the side set to 'Line', as the resulting force pool has more teams in it.

Rare teams, where there was only a very small number (Less than about 2-3 typically, but it depends on the size of the original force) can be scaled to where they don't show up in the force pool anymore, depending on the difficulty.  The higher the difficulty, the more likely this is to happen.  Thus I suggested you play on 'Recruit' if your preference is to see more German tanks.

If you are looking for a setting where you get every man and vehicle that was present in the historical force in your force pool, at a 1:1 ratio, then there is no such setting in LSA.  This would not make sense with the scale of the strategic map and the battle groups in the game.

Yes, 'Recruit' will give you the most tanks.  107.Panzer Brigade was about the only unit that had a large number of tanks.  The Germans also get some tank-centric BGs like Pz Kp 224 and 506 s.Pz.Abt, which allows you to choose / change where these tank groups will go.

Tanks will also trickle in to the FP for some other BGs, like KG Reinhold (some StuGs and Pz IV) and Knaust (Pz III and IV at first, then some Tigers and Panthers later on) as the date advances.

Don't hold your breath. I didn't see any tanks near Arnhem when I played the GC on "line". Only a few armored cars and two Stuh42s. I finished the GC on the 21st but I know that historically there were at least MkIII and IVs there on the 19th as well as Tigers.
