Air Doctrine strategy

Post by jjdenver »

Hi,

Can someone w/ experience (tester/dev/etc) comment on air doctrine settings? As SU in Jun 41, is it smart to demand something like 85+ readiness to fly to keep your planes from being shot down in droves? And to set mission size and escort size to 100% to ensure you always "fly big" so that you don't send out a few planes to be easily downed by Luftwaffe?

As Germany how do you set up air doctrine? I am at a loss when looking at this screen.

If this is already covered in another thread you know of pls point me at it.

Thanks

JJ, as the Soviets your planes will be shot down in droves no matter what you do, but of course some changes to the air doctrine settings can help scale losses down.

I'd mostly suggest increasing interception and escort levels/to "fly big" as you say. Your planes will drop like flies, but they'll take more Germans with them or increase German operational losses due to damaged planes.

You could use the majority of your air force to swarm the Germans (or the Finns) and try to train a few squadrons by more carefully managing them. Until late 1943, expect the majority of the losses the Luftwaffe takes to be (self-inflicted) operational losses and AA losses, though.
