ship design bug- Can't set invasion tactics.

Hi guys,

I want to ask if anyone of you encounter this problem, or is it fixed?

everytime I get in to ship design screen and create a new one or edit an old design, it is imposible to set a "invasion tactic".

so I cant elminate the red colour warning, "must set an invasion tactics".

and I cant create or upgrade any design.

any idea, what the problem is?

I haven't seen this before. Not sure how the invasion tactics dropdown list would ever be disabled.

Can you post a screenshot showing the problem?

I'm in holiday, and out of home, with my tiny litle netbook that cant work the game.

Next week when I arive the home, I'will take the SC.

But, there is no screet trick.

I just select an invasion tactic... But in the warning screen, the red color invasion tactic warning still stands. So I cant save my designs.

Some of my friends say, it's because of my Windows Vista is in Turkish Language.

I can also send my system details and if you need, I can run a diagnostic software that you created, to collect necessary data samples, in the help of effort to solve this problem.

Thanks for the extra info. If you change your language in Windows regional settings, does this problem go away?

Thanks for quick respond.

I changed the regional settings, two or three times. But it did not help. Maybe it is about "instalattion language" problem. Because I installed the windows in Turkish, then open the english settings. Or may be it is not about language setting : )

Anyway, I'll upload the Screenshot.

I hope you can find a solutiuon. I was one the first customers of the game in March 2010, and cant play the game because of designing the ships is most important part of the 4X space strategies for me.

so, waiting a fix for months : )

The screenshot is pretty hard to see clearly (not full size?), but I get the general idea.

I cannot reproduce this problem by changing my regional settings either. Maybe you could try reinstalling with Regional Settings set to English?

Really not sure why this is happening, but for the next update I'll make the invasion setting default to "Invade when Clear" so that you should be able to design ships.

I thought screenshot is big enough. the link is smaller version but if you click on the picture, it becomes full screen.

Anyway, I see that you understand my problem.

For months, I've tried every posibilities... Except, reinsatalling the windows...

Installing the new windows option is a little pricey here. I'm in Turkiye and we buys the Windows in Turkish.

I think I need US or UK version of Windows, that means I need to buy new Windows which is 150-200 dollar in Turkiye.

Also, my computer is my bussines station and installing a new Windows is a real nightmare for me. I can lose many important data even they are backuped.

But if you can update the game with standart invasion tactic option, I can play the games at last.

Also I want to say that, Distant World is a 4X strategy game that I'm waiting for decades... Thats why I'm here, in a game forum. I've never been write any games forum before, in my 30 gaming years.

I'll also buy new expansion after that update. And I'm eager to see the game in Turkiye market within DVD box to buy it for my game box collection.

I'm just an author : ) not a company. Writing novells, fictions... The only affected thing is literature for now : )

in the community center, there is no section for distant worlds (first game) patches, but the expansion...

Are the expansion patches fit to original game too?

for the information, I just bought shakuturi axpansion too.

There is same problem on that.


By the way, expansion's user interface looks like much more frendlier and game looks great.

I did not want you force to solve the problem, but after one year, you left me no choice.

I mentioned about Distant Worlds in my monthly Column. It is in the Turkish monthly Gaming Magazine, LEVEL, which solds 20.000 every month. (http://www.level.com.tr)

Anyway, at the last patch, I did not see the bugfix of this problem but, if you counter many Turkish customers this month, I hope, they force you to put that ship design problem an end


Please guys, kill me or just take that "must set an invasion tactic" warning out of the game, so we can play tha game.

I have the same problem. Weird, I am from Turkey as well. Well, I do not live in Turkey but my computer was bought in Turkey if that is relevant. :-/ Anyway, I use an English Vista, and set my all language settings to EN_US, so that has got nothing to do with it.

What you see in the below picture is that I opened the game, started a random game, and without doing anything went to the Design section, clicked on a Destroyer and clicked 'Copy as New'. So I have this screen.

I noticed that
1. If I click on an Escort, it does not happen right away. Instead it happens when a warning appears.
2. Every time a warning appears, the Set an Invasion Tactic alert is renewed and the Invasion Tactic box turns blank.

I tried re-installing DOT net, but didn't change anything.

There are many people around the world, experiencing the same problem but cant find the time to write about it on the forum.

Also, may be you should know,

I installed the game on the 3 PCs.

2 of them are Laptop, one of them is desktop.

2 of them are vista, other one is XP with all uptades.

All of them bought in the Turkiye.

mate, I do not think it has got anything to do with the computers being bought from Turkey etc. as I said, my Vista is EN_US, so are my language settings. I don't even live in Turkey.

it doesn't make sense. there should be something else.
