Where is logic in this???

Post by Samurai »

Some of my Alf/Zero pilots have been reportet as shot down and captured, but that would not be so wierd if they were shot over PM or some other Allied base! But they were shot down over Rabaul, or Shortland's and CAPTURED??? Who captured them... NYPD??? FBI??? CIA??? Some of my best pilots have been captured that way (with 10+ kills and 90+ exp)!

The coast watcher idea is good. Anyone seen an Allied captured over one of their bases?

I don't really think that the coastal watchers are what this is about. The rate of shot down and capured pilots in my UV games (vs. AI or PBEM) is 10 or more to 1 for the Allied. They capture every single one of my shot down pilots, and I maybe few in the whole scenario. And they get shot a lot over my bases. Don't think that that is what really happend in the WWII. The Allied maybe had some more succes, but that much...
Maybe Matrix should rewrite the code or whatever for this... It just does not seem real, if you know what I mean!

My experiance

Hi, In my many games the player who owns the base the combat takes place in saves the pilots. From both sides. If I am Japan fighting over PM I lose pilots. As allied I get them back. Carrier battles at sea are more random. Ovver the enemy TF they are captured (or if not they fly far enough back before ditching)
I have not had enough pilots captured (can't say I ever saw it) over Shortland as Japan to worry about it. The next time you have a pilot captured where you think it should not occur. Send replay to Mogami99@aol.com and I will forward it to testing team
(after laughing at it a few times. No matter what the program team does there will always exist some point for question. This is ok but if answer is to just killevery pilot shot down that would raise questions too. Captured over friendly base means. He is shot down, inflats life raft, caught by current 45 dyas later he is found by PBY flying out of French Frigate Shoals, (or worse yet, he washes ashore on Gilligans Island 18 years later)

Hi Gang

<Some of my Alf/Zero pilots>

well, from the way the post is written, I would say you may be loseing Reconbirds that got damaged over the target and then are flying back to base later

I think the pointer jumps to the base they took off from when they don't make it home, when it reports the loss

I have seen this with some of my recon planes as the Allied, but have not seen it with my fighters, so not sure if I have seen anything as bad as you report (but I think it maybe the way the game is making the report of damaged planes crashing on the way back home)

No, I just took Alf/Zero as example. Put any aircraft type instead of them, doesn't matter. It is allways the same. And about pointers and stuff... my pilots get shot down over Rabaul/SI(Lae etc. when Allied attack my base, that means there is no pointers for my moves.

Yesterday I just had three more captured pilots over my bases. It is driving me crazy!

HI Samurai

sorry, have not seen this during any of my games, so can't really tell what is going on, only reason I offered a guess was seeing the Alf listed, if it is CAP units loseing planes and pilots, then I can not begin to think what is wrong
