What will happen is that you'll be able to write a very in-depth review of the differences between PCK and PCO. That should be interesting to read. I expect we're going to see a lot of comparison's between PCK and PCO.
You're going to be amazed at the differences.

Well, two minutes into the game on my first phase, set a group to travel to a spot and, bang, system crash
Hopefully not a sign of things to come

Did you download all the patches for PCK yet?

There was only one patch for PCk, 1.01
Your download should have been already patched.

Correct, the game I downloaded seemed to be the most current. In my second game, no crash so far so maybe a fluke. We'll see.

There was occasional unexplained crashing with PCOWS and PCK. Nothing in the error log and nothing repeatable. Reloading always worked. Stridor found a lot of little things in the code that would only happen once in a million but could be what causes these things. A perfect storm kind of thing.
Hopefully he squished them all.

When doing bug hunting we found them by the dozens and killed them just as fast. PCO runs smoother than PCK ever will.

Thanks guys, we'll keep a look out. If I am not mistaken, load times of the scenarios was improved with PCO. If that is true, how much faster are they? Mine can take a few minutes to load which seems pretty long so hoping for a major improvement.

Depends on the size of the battle. Big ones on my old 1.2ghz with 512 ram might take half an hour. Medium size now on my single core 2.7 with 2g shared ram are less than a minute. The code is optimized for multi core.

I want just add this: we, as team, worked (and we are still working to add materials after the release) on PC Ostfront, not on PCK, so if you think that our work could merit some remuneration, wait and purchase directly Ostfront. [;)]

Should have stated that earlier, I was too eager and already pulled the trigger

No problem mate, my greater remuneration is that wargamers continue to appreciate my work!

I was on the late alpha for PCOWS since 2006. We would not have PCO if not for the talent of the others on the team. I just mop the floors and make sure there is toilet paper on the holder.

Only had a short time to play so far, but this is one area I do hope has improved from what I have seen so far. Seems like yours improved quite a bit. My machine is a quad core, albeit and older processor, but hoping I see some dramatic gains. I am also hoping the "AI" processing part has also improved. Its not horrible, just seems like it could stand a few tweaks to make it even faster. With my gaming time ever shrinking, playing a quick/efficient game is important to me

Did you try the CMSF demo or do you own CMSF? I found that the Marines battle in the CMSF demo loading screen takes about as long as a similar battle in PCO.
The AI calc and Sim calc are much faster in PCO over PCK. Even PCK was made for multicore so if you are seeing long calc times it may be something else going on between the game and your hardware.

Yep, I have all the CMSF games. There not short either, but defintely for the battles I have played in PCK, takes much longer. For PCK, I even walk away from my PC and come back and still loading. Can't remember many times that occurred in CMSF. As for the turns, there managable in PCK, just wish they were a little faster. I guess it comes down to the definition of "long" calc times

With a quad core you should do okay. I have a quad core as well, and while I have gone beyond PCO's capacity to play some of the MAPS, because the rest of the scenario is not a problem, for the most part it loads fast.
The defining factor on how well a scenario loads is the number of structures on the map.
Good Hunting.

RE: Couple quick questions on purchasing...
I'm curious to know how those of us who already own Kharkov are going to be able to authenticate/register the Osfront download? Is our cd key going to work with it? Are we going to have to register our keys somewhere to get a copy? (members area?) will it already be a download in your "members area" the day of release? How exactly is that going to work for those that already own Kharkov?

As long as you have registered Panzer Command: Kharkov in the Members Club, you will have access to the Panzer Command: Ostfront download version on the day of release. There will be a separate page where you enter your Kharkov serial number and get an Ostfront serial number to use with the new game.
