Question on step reductions?

Post by diablo1 »

How is this modeled? How many step reductions can a single unit take before elimination?

Reason I asked in one round of 40 seconds I lost 1 unit early in the round and then by the end of the round the whole unit dropped at once(the other 4 dropped). Does this mean if I use 10 units to represent the whole unit on the map the default model of reduction will always be intact? Also is the default model 5 units or 3 units?

Every infantry unit has four steps. Undamaged, Light Casualties, Heavy Casualties, Destroyed.

However, depending on what is firing at you and the experience of your unit, you may take more casualties than just one step. For example, a Veteran Squad shot at by a MG while moving in the open is much more likely to take just one casualty step than Green Squad hit by a 155mm HE shell in the open. A unit can go from undamaged to destroyed in one "shot" if it is in a bad enough situation. Teams are less likely to take single step losses than Squads, so a Team facing the same firepower as a squad will generally be destroyed more quickly.

If you mean the number of steps, then no, its not moddable. In the next game we will be looking at this to see what changes might be made.

Thanks

No, that's in the code as part of the game design. Everything that is an input to the game can be modded, basically all the data the game rules use, but the game rules themselves can only be changed as part of development.
