Playable against AI and in PBEM: first results show Red and White AI able to resist rather well until the end of the game. FY has been designed not only for single game against AI, but for PBEMs between 2 or 3 players.

Alliance with Anarchists in the next Fatal Years version
Following some insightful remarks of a FY player, I’ve decided to make some changes to the Red Alliance with anarchist option.
First, this option is now the same as in the original official version of RUS. ANA faction is only AI driven and firing the option just gives to Red ability to see ANA units and avoid any combat with them. On the contrary, no direct human control on ANA unit is allowed.
It’s impossible to switch units from AI to human control. The 1.03 official version of RUS has solved the problem by removing the ANA AI completely, so ANA units will always be under human control. Considering alliance between Reds and Makhno/Grigoriev started around February 19 to end 4 months later, this solution isn’t satisfying.
Why Bolsheviks allied with Ukrainian Anarchists in February 19? Because they had no troops here and they were so short on men they had to rely on local forces. But in the same time, the Red goal was of course to gain political control over these forces and normalize them in the centralized command they were building. They failed.
So, in game terms, how to represent this?
ANA AI will be passive at start: no movements, unless White player is attacking ANA units. ANA AI will become active when the Red alliance option will be fired.
So:
- allinace chances are higher in the first months of 1919, when Reds are lacking yet men. Activating ANA AI will create a new enemy for Whites. On the contrary, as today, this alliance will cost NM for Red player, an incentive to break the truce….

Ana is the weakest faction and the AGE engine computes ratio between one faction and all enemies on a theater/ ANA AI is then facing Reds, Whites, Ukrainians and the rest....and so is frightened [:)] I'm yet trying to overcome this [:)]

Reinstalled FY. Selected Rebuild Air Force and I get a squadron of Finnish Fighters & airbase in Moscow?
Also, what happened to Zinoviev's portrait that was in the Stock Campaign? Its reverted to generic Red General.

Zinoviev has his portrait too. In fact when I resumed the mod 2 months ago, I've run into problems with some models and units numbers duplicated. I've certainly chosen the files not belonging to the gfx mod integrated into the official version.

BTW, to reinforce the interest of the alliance and the historicity, I will add tomorrow events which will simulate desertions in Red ranks for anarchists when both factions are enemies.

Latest download and all leader files are mixed up - massively. Does not work with previous save, plus also new campaign exactly the same for Reds - all leaders not corresponding to their historical counterparts!

Hi, problem solved. Download the version on my blog. sorry for the unconvenience. Explanation: there are some mispelling in the name of German generals in the last official version; When I've rejunevated the unit cache file, things messed up.As I didn't loaded game before uploading the mod, the trouble remained unnoticed.
But lenin as White leader...Even Harry Turtledove hasn't had such a idea for his plots [:D]

I still experience a game crashing critical error every 3-4 turns with this mod (as with 1.03 stock version). As Kev pointed out at AGEOD forums one can get pass it by loading the previous turn, but it is becoming frustrating. Any ideas why it happens for me with this mod too? [&:]

Dunno as I myself don't experiment it. Do you have done a fresh install of the game?Then applied official patch, then my mod?
But I guess, as official version hasn't made any change to data files tied to AI stuff since December 2010 the trouble is in the exe. So a new exe could be necessary. I will be sure about once I will have this bug in my game.
