Which free picture editor would you recommend to use for Map Maker?

I could do with MS Paint reasonably well, but that is for start only...
I found the fill polygon feature to be invaluable.

I use paint.net for anywork I do on maps outside of Map Maker.

I like Paint.Net as well. Some people like Gimp so you might look at that one too.
