Return to port with highest damage...beat this

Post by Cap Mandrake »

In a H2H scenario, the IJN CA Myoko limped into port (more like towed into port) with 98% system damage and 96% flotation damage (no fires..go figure). The old girl might make it...she is down to 88% flotation now.

H2H -- head to head.

Watch out, Cap. You may have cursed her! She'll get the floatation damage down to zero, then get torpedoed or bombed... wouldn't that be a shame!

Can you please tell me how Head to Head games work? Are they played online? I assumed the only way to play head to head was on a LAN ? Thanks.

More accurately, I should have said PBEM. Toro, I hope "jinxing" is not modeled in UV.

From the manual.......
7.2 Play-by-Email (PBEM) Games
When playing a PBEM game (PBEM Security) , both players will be prompted to create passwords. The Japanese player then plots his orders and ends the
turn. The program will ask him to save the game, which he then e-mails to the Allied player (you are strongly recommended to first zip the file). The Allied
player loads the game, enters his orders and, when prompted, saves the game and e-mails it back.
When the Japanese player loads the file, the turn will automatically execute and create a combat replay file in Save Game slot 1. Again, the Japanese player
plots his orders, ends the turn, saves the game and e-mails it to the Allied player. In this case the Japanese player must send both the save file and the combat
replay file to the Allied player. The Allied player can then first load the combat replay file and view the execution phase from the previous turn before
loading in the save game file and entering the new Orders Phase. These steps are repeated each turn. At the end of a PBEM game, the Japanese player will
need to send his password to the Allied player so the Allied player can load the final save file, view the final execution phase and view the final victory score
and end game status.

Thanks Ross,

This seems to be the PBEM your describing. Is there no difference from the Head to Head game then? I thought they were two different things. I thought Head to Head meant if you were playing another person real time on a network or something like that?

Joe

PS. Great Game!!!
I would love to be able to see what the avg experience level is of aircraft in combat perhaps with 1-5 stars indicating experience. Would also like to see disruption reported in combat reports.
Overall an excellent game! Thanks.

Hey, Cap!

With that much sys damage, you better hope no bubblehead with a John Wayne complex decides to surface and take you on with their 4"er. Wouldn't do a bit of good to use USN torps at this stage of the war.

Wait, Rev..I thought i was immune from sub attack in port..not true? Now, a big seagull with a full load might send her to Davey Jone's locker though.

Reminds me of that video footage I saw recently on the History Channel of this carrier completely gutted by fire that still made it back to perl. Forget which one though.

Ship damage

Post by entemedor »

If I remember correctly, the most remarkable damage-control on the Japanese side was that of cruiser MOGAMI at Midway. After losing her bow in the collision with MIKUMA, she suffered several bomb hits. In fact, afire and with her bow missing, she looked so clearly a goner that the last USN wave concentrated on MIKUMA. However, MOGAMI managed to limp back to Truk. She was out of action for 16 months.

Ross, which part of the manual is correct, Your quote from 7.2 is in odds with Appendex B where it states the saved game is already compressed and you won't gain much by zipping. Would be good to know which is correct?

Thanks

Mark
