Extremely foggy war

Post by Roger Neilson II »

Ok here is a real weird one. I accept that FOW is meant to perplex and mystify. I have however become increasingly disbelieving of the repots. Last move in one of my games this came to a head. I watched as hordes of my planes managed to find and attack three prime Japanese BBs landing significant hits on them with their bombs. Now I accept that this is probably my pilots being enthusiastic and all they really did was kill some fish. However on looking at the in game CR no such attacks took place, the BBs are not mentioned apart form their initial mayhem in bombarding my bases.... no air attacks on them. So I'm mightily annoyed because whilst I can accept that three separate strikes might ave been bamboozled into thinking they'd hit the b**********rs I cannot accept that they collectively dreamed getting into their cockpits, flying over the ocean and attacking things.

So I sit a little annoyed, and then I run Combat Reporter for the turn, and lo and behold there's the reports of the attacks on the battleships.

So the Combat Replay shows this happening, the in game Combat Report does not, and the Combat Reporter does.

Anyone know what's up here? I don't expect accurate reports, but I do expect to at least get some.

Playing the BETA 1.0.6.1108p3

Sounds like sync problems to me.  You need to verify with your opponent on exe version.  I think that FoW should only affect the numbers in the results, not completely different battles.

Indeed that's my thinking too. Wanted some confirmation from others.

Do you get any warning on loading the replay or the next save from your opponent?

No warning at all. At one point back in time I almost loaded a turn and got a warning, but did not and updated before loading.

You can only use the in-game combat reports for a PBEM immediately after running the combat replay. The Allied reports are not stored in the save but get generated by running the combat replay.
The text file (with the game date) in the save directory can be viewed outside of the game for the Allied player if a new save has been loaded.
