War & Peace Demo?

Post by jnier »

Has anybody played the demo for War & Peace? I loaded it up and took a look around, but I haven't tried to play it. I'm not quite sure what to make of it - it is Napoleonic RTS.

For anyone who might be interested here are the links:

I've been keeping an eye on this game for some time. I think I will wait for an English demo; hopefully one will be forthcoming. The game should be released fairly soon. Looks like it could be a good game; sorta like Total War.

The screenshots look real pretty, but the ships look ridiculously gigantic compared to the cities and fortifications that are represented. Its really noticable.

Thanks for the heads up jnier.

Well I played around with the demo and I really want to like this game but I think the real-time aspect is going to ruin it for me. I was hoping it would have a turn-based strategic level with a RT tactical level, similar to the Total War games. I dont like the map scale either and there is no real interaction on a map of Europe such as moving units and spies. All action takes place on the tactcal map and in real-time. It can get awkward and chaotic when you keep hearing that your troops are under attack and then you have to find them. Having several battles going on at once is a real chore. I hope I am missing something, which is very possible, but with a 30 min time limit on the demo, it is hard to get anything going or to know what you are doing. I will keep at it and maybe it will all come together but the RT really worries me. God I want a polished strategic level Napoleonic game. Uh, when is EiA going to be released again. I'm dieing out here.

I'm with you guys. RTS just isn't real. Why don't they see that?

tried the demo - awful game

totally chaotic and inbalanced.

- even smaller nations reach the artifcial 60 units limit
- dimplomacy is not worth to mention, especially for the minors
- etc.

waiting for EiA :)

I agree, deleted the demo last night. I was hoping a French company would do Napoleon proud. That puts all the pressure on the boys at Matrix. I have confidence they will not fail.
