TheOverlord vs Aussem

Post by TheOverlord »

New game coming up...

US(90%)/UK(10%) vs Germany(90%)/Italy(10%)
August 1943
9600 pts
60% arty effectiveness vs hard and soft targets.
All options on, including C&C.....:(

Map is custom (100 x 240) and is characterized by scattered large hills, open terrain, and clusters of buildings and plenty of roads. A couple of fair sized lakes in the middle.

Most vh's are in the townlets scatered about the map. Some are going to be easy to defend (for both sides) and others are in the open...

Never played vs a human with C&C so it shall be interesting!!

Great map!

Sorted out the stability problem with the help of the VDMS file. However, can't seem to post our game. What is your email address so I send it to you directly?

My error

Post by aussem »

With all the problems I have with my sound card, XP and SPWAW I forgot to buy any Italians. Doh!

I don't think it will really affect the game. However, if you want me to I can setup again. Thinking about it more, it seems that given our theme ie Sicily 1943 it would make sense to apply a 50/50 split on our forces (half US/UK and half Germans/Italians). Thus, if we do setup again, maybe in another slot? Then we could play two games.

Anyway up to you. :D

Glad I read this before I started!

I would rather re-set up this one than start another. I have too many games going now that another one would just add to my befuddled state.

I will go ahead and set up again (the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to change some of my purchases anyways... so this helps me as well.)

Lets try a 50/50 split then, everything else the same.

I will post the new game a little later today.

Cheers!

Turn one....

Post by TheOverlord »

GE/IT forces open up with some big guns - 210 mm and 149 mm bombardments! All it does it piss off some brits who spill their afternoon tea....

US/Brit forces drop smoke in several locations, and pound a couple of likely spots with mortars....and find a sdkfz251/1!

Brit counter battery fire does some damage to the GE big guns!

Hmmmmm German forces are blitzing int he south - plattoon each of tigers, panthers many Italian light vehicles, mty squads, infantry.....

I am a dork.

I spent much time devising a plan, picking units to execute the plan, postioning units and setting their objectives (C&C is on).

The whole time, something was nagging me that I was forgeting something.....hmmm

I see a blitz in the south and I think "Wow, he is in a big hurry to hit hard and fast"........then a thought occurs.....I check the length of the game and see it is only 10 turns. Thats what I forgot to check!

So, now I find myself tearing apart my wonderful devious plan to change everything to a blitzgrieg just to grab some vh's!

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!
